I’m enjoying the Reach firefight maps. However, Courtyard seems heavily favored/weighted. It’s showed up the most for me; Courtyard 6 times, Ardent Prayer 3 times, and Refuge 1 time.
Managed to get into some of the other maps today, Refuge 1, Courtyard 1, and Gyrefight 3.2 times, and Lone Wolf 1 time.
The enemies are in vehicles on Gyrefight, but at soon as you hijack, the vehicles start to self-destruct.
I still need to get into Powerhouse.
Yeah that would be a good option… Heck let the phantom stay on the map and patrol
BRiT’s experience seems to be only one map has enemies on vehicles so far, maybe with a little time it can become all of them.
I really like what they’re doing with the whole Remembering Reach endeavour. I thought they should have done the same when Halo TV show Season 2 came out with a Firefight map of Madrigal. I actually try to making my own but the scripting seem so janky and nothing worked consistently so I left it. I might pop a video on here later because I tried to have the Spartans drop into the map and it sort of works and looks cool.
Anyways the maps are pretty good, and I hope to see more of this going forward. I really like the progression on the one map of a covenant ship. I liked the barren landscape found at the end of Halo Reach as a map and liked the tight and confined capture points. And in general I just liked seeing something new instead of the same few maps in rotation.
This is where Halo Infinite can really shine as a live service title. Much like how Fortnite changes things up every season, this is what I expected from Infinite. Do you remember when, before Epic ran into labour rights issues, Fortnite used to be updated weekly with game changing updates? Massive updates to the maps and features and weapons pretty much every week? I think infinite could do that with game modes and maps every operation.
So this was great to see and I hope to see more.
It’s been all since I played around with Firefight scripting in Forge. I thought you could spawn some in vehicles but I’ll have to double check that.
And I know this is going to be a hot take so I’m going to make its own post… But after that one tweet about Halo 3 split screen gaming going viral on Twitter and even having Aaron Greenberg getting involved I thought it was the perfect opportunity for Infinite to capitalize.
That tweet got so much engagement from people who used to play Halo and loved it and pined for those days again. The thing is for $299 you can get back into that with Halo Infinite and a Series S. It would have been a great means to counter the idea that Halo is dead or irrelevant.
I know people will disagree with us but I truly think that 343 should consider classic Halo map playlists (1,2,3 & Reach) in Infinite to capitalize on this. Have Doritos and Mountain Dew partnered in its promotion.
Yes I know that people could just pick up MCC to play those games but the sell here is that here is a great free-to-play title that anyone can play on their PC or Xbox to relive those moments. The point is to increase the player base of Infinite and bring people’s attention back to Halo again. It’s more worth it to get a million people to check out Halo Infinite for free than another hundred thousand people buying MCC.
Nostalgia is powerful and should be exploited by Xbox and 343. Nostalgia is a big reason why the Gears E-Day trailer resonated with so many people.
“If you want Halo 3 then just buy MCC” sure that’s a plan but if you’re Microsoft or Xbox and you want to get some positive attention towards your new products, recreate that stuff in Infinite. Make a big deal about it. Make a little ad about inviting your friends over to play some split screen Halo on your $299 Series S.
Speaking of which I had a backyard Halo LAN Party that I called “Halo by the Lake” because I live by a lake. So I set up a 12x12 tent and had a table with the consoles and TVs pointed in opposite directions. I wish I took pictures for my own collection but I was so busy setting it up that I forgot to. I only had two Xbox Ones set up so only eight players instead of the usual 16. My friends, that usually brought their own consoles, sold their Xbox Ones.
If anyone is interested in this stuff I wrote a guide on Halo waypoint just Google my handle and Halo LAN to find it. Because the Xboxes no longer support offline profiles things can get tricky so I get into that. And that’s partly why I was so busy that day logging in everyone to their accounts as people played.
If I was rich I would have two to four Series consoles set up and be playing Halo Infinite instead of MCC. Four players split screen on Halo Infinite is fantastic. It actually keeps your HUD settings and FOV settings for each screen.
And by the way, when people come over to play 80% of them are interested in picking up an Xbox because they’re having an incomparable amount of fun that they’ve never had on their single player PlayStation experiences. So I apologize for ranting a bit here. I just see missed opportunities.
