Halo |OT2| Forging Ahead

Forge saved Infinite for me. It really sets Infinite apart from most other AAA shooters and gives a huge advantage in new content creation because you don’t have to download the maps on your hard drive.

It’s also really cool to see devs and players working together to make new content.

Hopefully the rumored PvE stuff will be a good enough draw to bring in new people

IMO it needs a massive marketing push. Make a big deal out of it so that the media and gamers do as well.

The ball is in XGS’s court on this.

These maps are fantastic. A real showcase of what Forge is capable of.

Agreed perhaps have a COD collaboration of some sort where players get the chance of seeing the Spartans. The ABK deal brings in huge properties that can market Halo once it’s ready.

I always thought it was a bit of a mistake for the newer games to lean so heavily into the overtly American-themed UNSC military aesthetic. I think it changes the overall aesthetic of the IP from a more generalized “Humans vs Aliens” to “The American Military vs Aliens” which inherently narrows the appeal for non-Americans.

I’d love to see them lean back from this a little bit and try to broaden the appeal of the IP somehow. Just my 2c.

Do we know when next season is dropping? I’ve completed all of them so far but with so much stuff to play right now I think I’ll need to plan in order to make sure I can also reach lvl 100 on that one as I can’t afford to fall behind or else I’ll never catch up!

I believe in two weeks.

Here are three ways to easily level up, all are time efficient but different in how they use your time.

  1. Play 1 Bot Bootcamp match a day (gain ½ level in 2-3 minutes, or one whole level in two to three minutes with double XP): There is a daily “play one match” challenge that nets you 500 XP. This will take you up half a level and this mode takes only 2 to 3 minutes for a match to complete. Another benefit of this mode is that you don’t need the game installed for the best experience you can always play over the cloud because your performance doesn’t really matter when you’re playing against bots. If you apply your Double XP card you will go up 1000 points which takes you up an entire level. By the way since you’ll always win against bots you’ll get another 50 points and all these small additions add up over time.

  2. Play an hour a week in PvP using a Double XP card (go up 4-6 levels in one hour): I say every week because you want to do it when you have fresh weekly challenges and you want to try to tackle as many as you can within that hour, choosing the right mode for the challenge. So if you have a challenge that is “5 headshots” or “5 BR kills” play tactical Slayer. If it’s a “get 3 power weapon kills” challenge, play Fiesta. Right away you’re going to go up a level with a double XP card by playing a match, and this double XP is going to apply to your weekly challenges as well and it’s really easy to go up many levels quickly. After this hour is done I would stop playing and then consider another hour in the next day if you have weekly challenges remaining. You wait until the next day to get that daily challenge of 500 XP as well. If you do this you can go up 8 to 10 levels in 2 days in 2 hours total. Definitely feel free to use challenge swaps so that you can get more attainable challenges done quicker.

  3. Combine the two using double XP during the hour sessions (go up 8-10 levels with a weekly time investment of 1h15m): So say on Wednesday you play an hour and get a lot of the weekly challenges done using your double XP. And then the rest of the days you just play for 2 to 3 minutes in the bot bootcamp mode going up half a level.

I was in the hospital for over a month in this past season and I was able to catch up easily by doing these things. And this was without the bot bootcamp playlist because they removed it and then they re-added it fairly recently.

Also I wouldn’t worry too much because if you’re going to love the PVE modes in S5 you’re just going to end up playing more of the game and you’re just going to level up without even thinking about it. I was doing all of these bare minimum things because I was having a decent time with the game but I wasn’t in love with Infection and BTB was starting to get a bit thin for me. So I did the bare minimum while having fun and I know if I played for more I would have got bored of the game.

When Husky Raid was released, it became a mode where I was irresponsibly playing cutting into my sleep and saying “one more match” for hours on end. All this AFTER I hit level 100. If it counted XP after that cap I would probably be at 150 right now just from 3 weeks of Husky Raid alone.

Even if you forget about the weekly challenges and play once everyday for 2 to 3 minutes in the Bot Boot camp you’re sitting pretty and don’t need to stress.

Didn’t know about the bot boot camp, thanks for that one! I do have a lot of double exp stacked up so I do use them once or twice a week in order to help me out with leveling.

It is usually quite a fat battle pass to go through, compared to other it is indeed quite easy to complete, but with Starfield and now Forza and all the other Gamepass titles that were added recently I am finding myself heavily time constrained lol

Also, they are adding PVE stuff next season? Nice!

So Season 5 will have:

  • Extraction game mode
  • Flood customization
  • 2 new arena maps (Prism and Forbidden)
  • Forge AI
  • Earnable battle pass XP from custom games
  • Cross-core helmets
  • Firefight: King of the Hill game mode (coming later in Season 5)

This game will be in a good place by the end of this year imo.

Another huge W season for Halo Infinite. The game is currently one of the best live-service games on the market today, IMO.

I can’t wait to get back to the game. It looks like they figured it out and we get so many cool and highly demanded features with each new season. It may not bring new players in but they are doing everything they can and I respect that.
