Very excited for water. My Season 4 map release is primed for it!
Just saw it on Twitter. Jesus dude, every time I see you/other proper Forgersā maps I feel my little maps shrink up and dissolve.
Nah man, every map I make is usually better visually than my last oneā¦ Always finding ways to improve. Itāll be the same way for you. Plus I usually partner with better designers than me so I can concentrate on just the art.
Never give up. We all start somewhereā¦ And just remember a good map doesnāt have to look nice. Gameplay is king. You got this
Cheers, but I suspect the gameplay isnāt too hot either, hah!
Because the campaign was unfinished at launch, the only Halo campaign Iāve played with zero diversity in the environment, the open world looks the same everywhere I go and the linear missions all have the same Forerunner structuresā¦ besides one or two Banished missions, generic side missions all over the map, with the hidden lore stuff being the most interesting aspectā¦ nothing innovative about the multiplayer, but hey infection is finally coming! Yay? the game was sold with the idea of being a 10 year project and it failed spectacularly at that.
Sure: but I was more curious you said it was great, and then not because it wasnāt expanded. Your view above sounds more like you just didnāt think it was good at all.
I donāt give a fig, really, I was just more bemused by the apparent logic.
LOL no Halo today
Yeah we saw Fallout and Elder Scrolls again, but no Halo. Why?!?!
Bizarre decision, youād think Infection + progression system (as basic as it seems to be) + all the content added throughout this year would be enough to at least try to lure people back. Unless they have plans for a proper relaunch later this year and they donāt feel theyāve reached that tipping point yet.
Microsoft is just giving the Halo community what they have asked for the last 10 years, killing 343 Halo./j
In all seriousness, itās likely that they wonāt be putting Halo in the limelight anytime soon, unless itās the BR mode by CA.
If I was apart of 343 I wouldnāt be happy that the season 4 trailer didnāt make it in the showcase, or extended showcase.
It looks like they put in a lot of work, and dropped a great trailer. Iām a bit upset it wasnāt there, especially when SOT, FO76, scrolls online where all in.
I believe because the last two are adventurous update as in continue the story base. SoT I can understand though. Monkey Island crossover is a big deal.
Itās why Iām sad that the Slispace Engine is going to be abandonned. Donāt know what were the problems or if they were unfixable but it always looked gorgeous and Halo.
This season is looking to be a step up from season 3 which I thought was pretty good. From this and the leaks of what is to come, it does seem like 343 is finally hitting its stride with the releases.
It does look good no doubt. But infinite is still riddled with issues so idk how I feel about an engine switch moving forward.
I was thinking about what it would take to justify a soft-relaunch of Infinite on a big stage like the Showcase, and Iām thinking that a few things would justify it:
-
fixed Desync: itās one of those obstacles that prevent this game from hitting greatness. Right now the game has as lot to offer and this is the one thing hesitant gamers are looking for.
-
Enemy AI in Forge: the ability to create endless single player and MP co-op content gives infinite life to this game. This could even be shown with a demo and it would impress even non-Halo gamers.
-
A big mode like Firefight: just like enemy AI in Forge, it scratches that PvE itch that many are looking for. There are some people that donāt like playing competitive FPS but are definitely interested in PvE modes.
While not critical, I think a UI revamp would pair well with these sorts of additions so that the game does feel different than Infinite at its launch. The pre and post match screens are still bare-bones and unpolished, for example.
If this all happens by next year, then I think they should consider showing it off during next yearās Showcase. Pair that with Tatanka for a hefty Halo segment. These features would also differentiate Infinite from Tataka, giving you a reason to try and play both and keep them installed on your hard drive.
Am I in crazy town? I play Halo a few times a week and whilst I have a few little issues here and there (the sometime-resetting settings thing is annoying!) I usually have a good, competitive, fun time. This is not the same as saying it has no issues, or that some people have not had worse experiences than me. But Iām puzzled: itās an online game, and Iāve never played an online game that was entirely, consistently, bug-free, or didnāt exhibit some bullshit. Other Halos have had far worse tech/network issues, imo.
Yet I read about Halo as if itās a trainwreck. The content drought was bad, yes, and the bugs/desync issues are annoying, and I want them fixed. But I canāt say the game is unplayable, or unfun, or uncompetitive, or whatever else. Itās just not.
In the same boatā¦ Get on and play a few games at least once a week. Games great fun.
I think the bugs and desync effect the people that put in hours a week more than us casuals though. Since they will experience the worst more consistently.
Important thing is 343 is improving the game.
And each season is better than the last
