Halo |OT2| Forging Ahead

They haven’t said yet, but we’ll likely find out in the blog post tomorrow.

Always going to ask because it’s good to check, do you have an external Hard drive attached? From my own experience, sometimes the hdds tend to just start spinning and making a lot of noise, even when not in use.

This is depressing to me, this was supposed to be in the game eventually and that second tweet is even from of the trailers they were marketed the game with but that scene with the sentinel reflecting on Chief’s visor never was in the campaign, probably got cut and was gonna be added in DLC eventually, since that isn’t happening anymore I wonder what people who are fans of Halo campaigns have to look forward to… I really don’t care about any books or comics, especially right after getting burned with Halo Infinite… is this franchise’s campaign side just going to be in a limbo for this entire generation? maybe even for a big portion of the next generation? I would really love some answers because it does not seem like 343i themselves will be making a big campaign on their own, so do they even have a team assembled right now? should I just pretend that Halo FPS/AAA campaigns are in a coma…?

From what I understand it’s essentially being outsourced with 343 overseeing its development. A former 343 employee said they still have a campaign team (writers) on other era and were excited about it. I haven’t been keeping up though.

Whatever is happening I expect it to be a long time before we hear anything. But I believe the new studio director has talked about it?

Yeah, whilst I do play the MP, the SP is the bigger draw by far and I’d like them to clarify the future of it one way or the other asap.

And? What’s that got to do with discussing what we’d like to see the next game do or whether there’ll be one?

Why does the future of Halo single player need to be clarified?

Cause there has been an absolutely metric ton of turn over, firings, restructuring etc of 343. Infinite was supposed to have a ton of story DLC and stuff as well but that seems to have taken a big backseat. All we have heard about is multiplayer so it would be nice to hear something about the single player. Is DLC or more story missions still coming? Or is it on hold till a new Halo comes out?

Whatever plans for post launch campaign DLC I imagine is canceled. That’s never been a thing for Halo anyway honestly. See you next game.

You just said it, you imagine its been cancelled. Whether it’s campaign DLC or a new entry entirely, we don’t know, hence the need for clarification from 343.

Sounds great but it’s still a mystery to me why it took nearly 3 years and why it wasn’t in the base game. I really wish we knew why it was decided that the game wouldn’t have a progression system during development.

According to TechnicalHalo (hoping he’s wrong because that would be a disaster)

In another timeline, the sequel of Infinite would have probably been teased/revealed on Sunday.

I wish MS would be as transparent and open as EA is for the future of Battlefield:

  • Ridgeline Games (new team led by Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto in Seattle ) building the single-player campaign
  • DICE will focus on the multiplayer
  • DICE also expanding to build a new team to support Ridgeline Games
  • LA-based Ripple Effect creating a completely different Battlefield experience

So the 2 new equipment I’ve seen should be interesting with the that threat grenade for forgetting what’s it called and the teleporter should add some interesting dynamics to the game. Big time the things people will create in forge.

I feel so out of touch because I don’t understand the purpose and benefits of a progression system like this.

I can understand a reward system that rewards people with unlockables (player and weapon skins, charms, titles, flair, etc) when they achieve things like 1000 vehicle splatter kills, 100 counter snipes, 50 Ninja kills, etc.

But do these progression symbols simply note my experience in the game?

Is it like a prestige thing?

Number go up

Pretty much.

I get that live service, number go up stuff is the de rigeur today, but I get confused by it. I play games cos they make me feel good. Halo Infinite, even at launch/in the early seasons drought of new content, made me feel good.

Don’t get me wrong, more maps and modes always welcome. The rest is fluff. If you like the game, you’ll play it. I don’t get the need to be ‘hooked’ by number go up.

But I’m an old man, shaking fists at clouds, etc.

It gives people extra incentive to play. It’s a target, a goal to achieve. Playing just for fun isn’t enough for a lot of people
