Halo |OT2| Forging Ahead

This is a problem I have with 343i their games are typically decent to great but man their launches always fucking suck due to lack of content and missing features

One guy at OtherERA said he has a friend who works there and said that the MP was actually redone from scratch in a year, while this could be very BS fake rumor, but considering how it is barebones…

343i is completely off the rest of the XGS, you know things went god wrong when Spencer had to tell the studio to not release the campaign and MP separately, and they did in a three week gap as a “beta” test, the campaign was only previewed at its final form a month before because the developers had zero time to fork demos, the fact that they were so desperate to have it at the anniversary date by releasing an limited Xbox Series X without the game on it but as a pre order code was the first in the industry. They could have gone the Capcom’s route with Resident Evil by releasing it just at the 20th year, not at the exact same day.

They’re lucky to have competent designers and having Staten and Pierre on board to save it at the last 14 months, because i’d imagine how they were going to go for a wreckage had it been released in 2020. It even feels that the 10 year lifespan thing was a last minute decision because they screwed up their reputation to an end and that Halo would be taken out from them or let in a hiatus.

yea terrible management over there

All studios have their problems. It’s obvious they wanted to launch the MP as a beta to test it, because there’s no way to scale that kind of game properly without a lot of testing. We’re doing the testing right now… It will get better.

Xbox should avoid other HI situations anyway, it’s not a good look having all these issues on your premiere franchises and launching what’s effectively an incomplete games and the last mainline game made by the same studio was 6 years before.

This should not be the case and hope no other Halo Infinite case is repeated. Like its a miracle how well the game came out like it did but this is absolutely the exception to said rule.

I mean, what is there is good, it’s just not enough of it.

I’m waiting for more SP-content so I’m probably screwed way until next year when they might have added the “should have been there at launch” -stuff that I’m not interested in anyway.

Yeah, it sucks. I feel like it’s a trend now. Lots of games launch with bare minimum features. It’s not just troubled developments, I’m guessing there’s a lot of technologies involved that demands a lot of planning, so even the smallest changes has to be reviewed and tested thoroughly. Just like BF 2042 season 1, updates will come, but devs need a lot more time !!

You can feel 343i is already behind schedule right now, so a delay of Coop and Forge is still very likely (just a feeling). It is what it is.

Maybe 343 needs more staff or support. Bungie is bigger than them. Or COD Modern Warfare 2 having 10 studios on it. Warzone having its own dedicated studio…

And the contractors policy needs to go.

it really does

Yeah. Having to let staff go after, what is it?, 18 months must be so ineffective. That should be right when they are familiar with everything and peak productive… but nooo, let’s train someone new. Lol

Bungie is not that bigger (I mean, 700 vs 800) and Destiny 2 had huge content issues, being also mostly a reskin of Destiny 1 to resell the game (that’s Activision for you lol). The issue here is that they scrapped 3 years of development, Halo Infinite was made in 3 years, not 6. MS must (should is not strong enough) vigilate more about quality control within their studios imo, it’s ok the give creative freedom, but not at the expense of the final product, because then crunch is always the outcome, considering deadlines must be respected at some point, budgets and fiscal years, etc…remember Scalebound or Fable Legends? Halo Infinite didn’t end like that only because of its name.

The fanbase have been saying for years that the heads at 343i are unfit for Halo, they scrapped out a whole game and you can see that from the artbook pages posted around, mostly of what was at E3 2018 was scrapped by the following year.

Let’s see what Staten can do, the fact the game which launched was not a total dumpster fire was a huge accomplishment by him. We all love Halo, but let’s be real, it it wasn’t for the name the meta would be much lower and also the engagement, which is dwindling because of lack of content. They nailed the gameplay, that’s for sure, but for example the grapple hook is great, but at the same time completely broken even for a sp campaign, it breaks exploration to a huge degree design-wise and combat-wise makes the other gadget useless for the most part.

2 months later its wild to say the Campaign state is better than the multiplayer lol.

Yeah, that alone says much about the overall state of the game, a mess saved in the nick of time.

Like Halo 5 for all the criticism actually had a good amount of multiplayer content at launch with like traditional online, warzone and breakout (which I loved).

Also I don’t think covid it’s the jack for all trades herr, the game was in trouble much before that.
