Halo |OT| Master Chief's Breath of the Wild Moment (Part 1)

Yep exactly. All Xbox even talks about anymore is gamepass. That’s their future.

I don’t see them getting 100-200 million players for infinite multiplayer and not shoving gamepass down their throats in one way or another.

I am fairly confident gamepass will have a ton of multiplayer perks like free battle passes. They want to sell you the service.

Avid halo competitive player here going back to halo 2. Have about 25k kills in halo 5 arena. Always onyx, have touched champion a few times.

Extremely excited for infinites competitive. Looks like a good mix of halo 5 and 3 to me. My biggest worry is it will take after halo 5 in map design/layout instead of 3.

Halo 5 has very small maps. They always want you in the action. No vehicles like halo 3 maps. I don’t like it. I think the maps are perfect for 2v2 or maybe 3v3 if their was a mode for that. I don’t like that everywhere on the map has to have heavy foot traffic. I don’t like that I can spawn and within 2 seconds be in a fight or kill a guy and the same guy can spawn and shoot at me before my health fully regenerates.

Even though I’m a competitive gamer I feel like 343 and their pro team put too much emphasis on the competitive side. I wish it was more organic. No one ever said rank halo 3 was casual.

This thought that if battlepass is free to ultimate members they won’t make money amuses me. For them to not make money on their battlepasses 10’ million players or more will have to sub to gamepass and basically stay subbed because the bp’s are so frequent. which would bring in a billion or 2 in revenue per year by itself.

100-200 million players and only 25 million gamepass subs. If it’s restricted to ultimate members probably only 10 million. If a player subs to ultimate to avoid paying it will cost 45$ every 3 months. I don’t see lost revenue, I see increased revenue from offering it through ultimate.

Sorry for bumping this, just hope someone here has any advice or info.

Part of the business model of Game Pass is that people who subscribe still buy stuff. For third party games, some buy the games as they come off the service at discount. For first party games, with the odd exception like Hivebusters that was free, it’s selling DLC and MTX.

I do get the argument that including the Battlepass might do a job at converting free to play Halo gamers into Game Pass, but it totally cuts off any monetisation from existing subscribers.

Is it ridiculous to say they would do it? No, it’s a valid opinion with an argument that makes sense. Will they? I don’t think so.

I think that FTP games justify themselves with MTX and taking that off 23m users – and most existing Halo fans are already subscribers – is a step too far.

Game Pass gets you the campaign, and I would also not be surprised if there weren’t a handful of Game Pass exclusive cosmetics each season that only subs got. But the main Battlepass itself is how they are going to make money off this game. I just don’t see them giving it up.

I hadn’t kept up with BattlePass info. I know once you buy a particular BattlePass you keep it forever.

Did they say how often new BattlePass entires release? Is it once a month for new BattlePass entry?

Maybe they could include a GamePass specific BattlePass entry once every 3 months? So they give you a benefit but do not entirely cut off opportunities to make income.

Personally as GamePass subscriber I’m fine with my only perk ending up as having Campaign access. Having the multiplayer as FreeToPlay is a better situation for me as a gamer, not because it’s free for me if I didn’t have GamePass, but because the player numbers will be so insanely high that it will have a healthy eccosystem. I never want a situation where searching for games takes forever because no one is playing, like the failing PlayStation Destruction AllStars game.

I think they said that each BattlePass would go on for 3 months.

They said there will be a new season every 3 months. So I guess they’ll introduce a new one each season? Or maybe they might decide to do multiple per season. We’ll have to see.

Isn’t it weird that we have not seen or heard about prometheans at all in halo infinite like at all?

a Knight was one of the targets on the map in the gameplay demo

Incorrect I just looked at the map and there was no mention of knights

Flood and prometheans will probably be in the game. They are hiding a lot on purpose. They are really shy to show anything of the campaign really. What we saw in trailers is mostly the beginning of the game. For me, that’s a good thing.

Any new info?

Not really anything groundbreaking they claim the free to play was decided early on

I hope halo infinites campaign has a strong ending. Halo 3 legendary Is my all time favorite video game ending and it’s really stuck with me 14 years later. Halo 4 and reach also had great endings.

Yeah, Halo 5’s ending was pretty abrupt, so hopefully, we’ll get a return to form with Infinite. With it being a platform game they support for the entire gen could affect that though.

Great vid by Shyway highlighting some areas of the new multiplayer changes.
