Love his presentation, always fun to watch. Of course I disagree with his take on the story. I think this story was told brilliantly and was the best possible way to pull this off. His take on Gameplay I fully support
nah the cat ears is cool as shit, they should have more unique stuff like that and Iād be fine with those being sold and the community response to that cosmetic is rightfully raved about because it looks good and also is just plain funny. Albeit 10 dollars is still a lot for it, but itās at least something, not just basic ass color swaps like the iron man and co coatings pack.
Also, Winter Contingency 10th unlock an orange color lol, why
Anyway, looking forward to revamp post-holiday
We need Hello Kitty x Master Chief
Finsihed the campaign last night, and holy shit this game is good. Took my GOTY crown for the year, slightly ahead of FH5 and then Psychonauts 2 in third.
Also, it is the best Halo game. As someone without nostalgic attachment to the series (I played them for the first time via the MCC) it is hands down the best one. The openish world, the gameplay and gunplay, the freedom of choice and gadgets like the Grapple shot improves the game immensely. Excellent story, antagonists, mission structure, difficulty balance, VA, sound and the āfeelā of the game.
They did it.
Glad you liked it as much as I do and 100% agree with your opinion on this game. Itās absolutely stellar and easily my favorite game this year.
Iād appreciate a separate thread. I have no interest in the campaign and itās all people seem to be talking about in here.
Iām not crazy here, right? Youāre punished far harder for playing badly, than youāre rewarded for playing well? Like if I have a 2:1 kill:death ratio and come first out of all eight players and we win, the progress I gain as a result is far, far smaller than the progress I lose if I have a 1:2 kill:death ratio and come last. Sometimes itās a really significant loss of progress even when I have a decent kpd and come first in my losing team and my opponents are ranked higher. Just seems like you have to spend way more time winning and playing well to advance the higher up you get, and a couple of losses can wipe out all the incremental progress you made. And yet the reverse - a couple of good wins - never quite seems to make up hours of small losses. I dunno.
I think Halo Infiniteās gameplay is the best Halo has ever been, personally. In all honesty, it makes it hard to go back to previous titles. Had a blast just exploring Zeta Halo and clearing out outposts with a Razorback full of marines. The story was great as well and really hit you in the feels at times. My only main problem is that the actual main missions were somewhat of a letdown, as they were simply not varied enough in my opinion. The Forerunner architecture looks nice, but I can only take so many copy-and-pasted rooms before it starts to become dull. But anyway, overall, I enjoyed the game thoroughly, and Iām extremely excited to see what they do next.
They showed stats not long ago and the curve is gaussian so you will be punished far harder if you lose a match past a certain point (probably Onyx rank due also to the algorithm). Progression isnāt linear, so most people will always fall back to the center of the curve where most of the population is located. Thereās some caveats though, as they explained that some people stopped playing after getting to a certain rank (Diamond 1). So the curve is not perfectly gaussian right now as you can see below :
Here is for solo/duo on controller for example :
Here is the blogpost :
Interesting stuff, thanks. Itās around Diamond 1 that it all starts to get particularly punishing for me. I keep yo-yoing between Plat 6 and Diamond 1.
Yeah, donāt feel too bad about it, itās just a rank. Iām not great either, still playing a bit of ranked from time to time. I mean, only 5% get to Onyx and stay there so it puts things into perspective. And Halo has always had some of the most dedicated players, so yeah, just enjoy the game.
For sure. In the moment of winning/losing, I can care a bit too much about progression, which at our level is completely meaningless. I need to keep reminding myself of that. The fun is the point, not the rank. And itās a lot of fun.
One of my weekly challenges is called Overwatch and I have to save someone from far away. Honestly how lucky do I need to be to get that done
BTB is probably the best for that one. good luck.
Unfortunately I am one of the folks who is seriously affected by BTB not working 90% of the time. I always have to restart the game and hope to get into a game. Donāt know whats the problem with that playlist. In the beginning everything wirked fine
Depends on where you currently are and MMR
Yeah, same. Itās been a while since I tried to get into a BTB gameā¦
Thankfully Arena is as fun as BTB this time. In previous Halo Games I tended to play more BTB since I loved the chaos it creates and I always thought Arena is more hardcore. But I feel super comfortable with Infinites other playlists. They still need to fix this soon next year.
