Seriously, you can be critical of a game in a constructive and civil way. 343 have shown that they are acting ( pretty quickly ) on feedback from the community. Isn’t having a game that plays great and has a developer that listens to player feedback a good situation ?
That could be the case, but maybe they just thought they could put the objective games into the hopper to get people to play them at launch rather than just going straight to 100% slayer.
This all seems like 343 had some good intensions with the launch. Early release, focused maps and reduced playlists to gather feedback. But the internet is a cesspool filled with arseholes who will scream, dox and send death threats…over a video game. A fucking video game.
They should just copy the way Destiny does control. You gain more points for kills depending on how many points you control. I can understand that strongholds might have played different in testing but in public playlists you can have games that go on for way too long as people just go from point to point.
Control in Destiny is always progressing, which is what Strongholds needs.
And the funny thing about their decision regarding the mixed playlists is that I never ever played objective modes before (not only in Halo but in general) but now with Infinite I found out that these modes are so much fun and I now I really like them. So for me it definitely worked and I am happy that they did that because I was too stubborn to try these modes before.
At the same time, it leaves them without sufficient telemetry to learn why those modes are unattractive, which is not ideal. Keep in mind that making iterative changes requires there to always be a reliable pool of participants to engage with those changes and give feedback. You probably don’t want everyone to leave obj modes to focus on Slayer and just hope they will waltz back to test out tweaks.
I guess one way they could encourage people to play objective modes over slayer is to give objective modes a lot more xp for objectives
People seem far more attracted to this batlle pass nonsense than I was expecting so maybe if they know they will be able to grind a lot quicker in objective playlists it will keep more people playing there
Like I said, what a shithole, nothing of value was lost
The matchmaking in this is unfathomable. Last game I played, my team got matched against a team with an onyx player (we were all plats). And yet, somehow we won, so I guess the matchmaking is calculating something right. Mostly.
It also seems much easier to drop in the rankings if you have a particularly bad game. That red bar of regression is so punishing compared to the sweet, sweet blue bar of progress. Again, probably just feels like that due to frustration. I guess it’s natural for games to get tougher as you ever so gradually move up the leagues. Plat V is my new baseline.
(The halo hardcore Community is the most annoying Community I’ve seen in my life . They always find something to bitch about , at this point 343 should stop listening and do what is appropriate for the game )
Sometimes not listening to people’s criticism is a blessing and best for the game
Exactly, you can totally issue constructive criticism and feedbacks without being rude about it. If anything you increases the chance of the devs not even listening to you if you can’t behave decently.
Just keep chugging along, playing enough games each day until it only gives me 50XP for completing one, and then I stop for the day. At level 20 in the battle pass.
Yeah, they are trying to appease people that wanted to be disrespectful with them from the moment Infinite was announced. This is the type of people that would complain even the game had almost no microtransactions, except one that would cost $2, but that would be already too much for them.
r/Halo has always been this way. Halo community is auto destrucitve. On monday, after the sub reopening, the dumpster fire will continue until they manage a way to ruin the game and put the blame on 343i. I hope the developers don’t shift focus too much over the blacklash and get lost. We all know there are issues, and they are already acknowledged and are fixable. Give them some time with piece of mind to improve things. The foundation of gameplay are already really solid and fun.
With that being said, despite of being a cesspool a manchild crybabies, r/halo is probably the biggest halo community on internet and has grown substantially in the last months (they are prolly reaching 1 millions users this year) . I hope mods get more help to do better job at moderation to filter valid feedback.
You know what’s the worst part about r/halo’s obsessive whining? It’s that it’s convinced my casual friends who haven’t played the game that it’s somehow full of issues, and I have to explain to them that the core gameplay is in fact actually quite good, and a lot of fun, it’s just that it has some issues which can and will be fixed in the future. My god.
