Just a quick question this week primarily for Late Night Gaming, but anyone can chime in as well :+1:.

What is the main thing that excites you about Halo Infinite and conversely what is the main thing that makes you concerned?

Re: Visuals

Do keep in mind that there are a few of us who are a Halo fans that don’t like the look of the game at all. I’ve never found the first reveal to be impressive, never found the July revealed to be impressive, and found the recent screenshots to be underwhelming.

A lot of it has to do with art style and the technical direction (specifically materials and lighting). There are some aspects that are impressive, but the overall look is disappointing.

I never wanted to rant on it in this thread because I didn’t want to be a voice of negativity. I’ve always thought that the best venue for me to rant on it would be a YouTube video where I can detail my issues with it. That way I wouldn’t derail this, or any other Halo thread.

But I do think there are a lot of valid and legitimate criticisms of the visuals.

I get the other arguments (kind of) But this? The initial reveal looked utterly bonkers

Here’s hoping the next You Had Me at Halo podcast, they bring up the fact that some people seemed to have been expecting dual wielding and being able to play as an Elite to be in Infinite. And are now acting let down and upset that it won’t be…Even though neither has been a thing for the last 4 Halo games, over a 14 year period

The dual wielding I don’t understand because, as you say, it has not been a thing since Halo 3 and there are way more Halo games without it than with it. In regards to the Elites, it’s hardly the end of the world and if I was a betting man I would bet that they will come with a seasonal update of some kind because the multiplayer especially is going to be a GaaS.

The way some people have reacted to the news you would think they turned Halo into Fortnite or something lol.

The first episode of our new Halo podcast series, Book Club, is up! It’s a series that will aim to focus primarily on the story and lore behind Halo, along with taking a look at the various books, tv shows, comics etc that build up the Halo extended universe.

Our first episode is myself, Don, and Daniel talking about Halo: Shadows of Reach, which has a few tie ins to Halo Infinite. Please excuse the lack of sync in the video, it’s something I didn’t catch until later and I’ll hopefully have it fixed by the next episode.

Please let us know what you think! Do you want to see more of these? Have any books you’d like to see specifically covered, etc.

Do yall think Ray Tracing will be in the game in some capacity? At this point I think it will be limited to ray traced shadows and nothing do with global illumination.

I am thinking that in a year or two, they will introduce the Series update that will have RT. At that point Halo Infinite will ditch X1

No way they will take that long for it.

Considering they mentioned ray tracing would be added in post launch back before they delayed the game, I’d be very surprised if it isn’t in the game this year.

Not that I was pointing that out as a negative. The sound of the Reapers is one of the most aweome and terrifyingly memorable things about that series

343 going for something similar to that is a plus that will really add to the experience
