Yes it is, lol wtf.
It’s literally their only job, if they’re bad at it why do it?

The thing is mate, even on this forum where you would expect there to be a pretty strong concentration of Halo fans I have seen next to no outrage about it. It’s a couple of people very invested, the rest seemed to enjoy the game and didn’t care about collisions.
I don’t see why 343i would lie about feedback being mixed with some liking and some not – they listed at least a dozen things that they acknowledge that a majority of people didn’t like, and that included things they acknowledged but openly pushed back on changing.
So for me, it’s pretty clear that this presentation of the feedback is honest. It’s just not a big deal to most.
Im pretty sure this is no different than a scenario where you put someone who has never played a Soulsborne game to preview Elden Ring and the impression of the major outlet is bad and people run with it.
Really this is just a job and something to point out and It has nothing to do with gatekeepers.
No, providing what you deem as “good” gameplay is absolutely not. It’s not an eSport.
And if you’re getting “enraged” (your words) at a gameplay video because someone isn’t good enough, you’re the problem.
Sure, I’m the problem when someone who’s supposed to offer good information doesn’t manage to do so.
I guess the whole internet was wrong when that Doom gameplay or the Cuphead one became memes for being laughably bad.
Most people here no offense to them arnt high level players. It’s not something a social player would be too concerned about or even notice.
The reason why the feedback is mixed is because most players are casual/social players. Once they are able to get feedback from ranked and professional play it won’t be mixed. I didn’t say they where lying, sorry if it came off that way.
I have no issues disagreeing with this I presume we’re both halo fans and want this game to do very well. I’m just giving the perspective of a HYPER competitive player. I could just be wrong and other competitive players will be just fine with this, and maybe I just need to adapt. We will see
Wanting to see someone who is actually decent at the game and knows his Halo stuff is “gatekeeping”? well that’s a new one.
Also no one is “gatekeeping” anyone from playing and enjoying the game as he/she sees fit, we are talking about a preview piece here that it’s purpose is to preview, analyze and show the game and it’s various mechanics/systems.
I mean, the multiplayer was developed with seasoned Pro players from the ground up, right, so it can’t be every high level player that agrees?
I don’t think every high level player will agree. A lot will, and some won’t care either way.
Yes they have pro players, but this is a free to play game trying to bring in millions of new players. They have to be casual friendly and can’t do everything the pro team wants to do. Collisions off is good for low level play, and easily half the players at launch will be very low level players.
This game is the antitheses of gatekeeping.
Being F2P and on Gamepass, I want it to explode.
My position remains the same as in my first post on it:
I would need to actually try the game with it on to see how it affected gameplay.
Bear in mind that the sandbox and all levels have been designed around there being no teammate collision.
You are assuming that gameplay will get better if it’s turned on, but it’s 100% guess work. You and others calling for it don’t know that. Chances are 343i do.
I don’t feel strongly one way or the other, and I don’t agree an FPS needs to have team mate collision to be ‘high level’ – all players have the same toolkit either way.
I have played it without, and had some of the most fun I have ever had with an FPS with it over just a weekend. I would need to try it with to judge whether it is actually improved with it. We can’t assume these things.
Of course no one is gatekeeping anything…especially here in this forum. AFAIK everyone here wants to share the great experiences that we have with some games and actually make more people play those games. At least that’s what I like to do, see more people enjoy stuff.
And of course we all here want Halo Infinite to be successful and explode as you said…we love the series.
Sorry but maps designed with collisions off in mind? I doubt it, and don’t think it will be an issue, never has been.
I also wasn’t just talking about teammate collisions. You can walk through an enemy too. Anyway this is my last post on the matter I’m sure no one here wants to discuss this at length.
The way I see it, people MOSTLY agree with one of us. Either you hate collisions being off and want them on. Or you haven’t noticed it, or don’t care if they are off. I don’t see many who actually would be upset if they where turned back on. Anyway we will see what happens going forward.
The game has obviously been designed as-is, changing a core mechanic is going to have a knock-on effect to other design choices along the way.
As I said, it’s impossible to know whether I would be against them being turned on until I played the game with them on. This will obviously affect the entire mechanics of the game, and whether it’s a plus or a minus I would need to judge by playing.
The mild hypotheical examples being used as to what people are complaining about with that IGN gameplay are so off base, they have to be intentional. If it was really just missing some headshots, or not playing like an Esport Pro, no one would be saying anything
And I know you guys doing this have to know this. Feels more like some of you are trolling for an argument, than it does you are legitimately concerned about “gate keeping”
Oh stop it. There is nothing they could do short of eat the controller that should disqualify them from talking about the game. Terrible post. Gamers have proven they will “say anything” no matter what. You have to pull wool over your eyes to ignore that.
At this point, Halo fans are way more off-putting to the franchise than any IGN video.
