There is a reason these systems are popular, people like different goals, they are rewarding. That is different than a passive XP system. Even older games like CoD with headshots and camo’s followed the same principle.

Basically once flights are back and campaign footage people are gonna all of a sudden forget about recent news humans have short term memory

People should play more games and whine less.

After dealing with Halo community for a while, I realized they it is worse than me.

Poor folks at 343.

I have plenty to play until then. You can only keep a flame burning for so long.

I used to wait for Halo Infinite to release. I still do, but I use to do it too.

For a few different gun skins, sure. That can’t be the formula for a new battle pass every season, though. Consider how many challenges need to be present to fill out a BP for 3 months. Based on the system stated above, you’re looking at something like this:

  • Get 100 BR kills
  • Get 100 AR kills
  • Get 100 Pistol kills
  • Win 100 matches
  • Get 100 assists
  • Now do it again in Season 2

There just isn’t enough inherent content to base challenges around in such a broad, passive fashion. Those can be challenges on top of XP or more specific goals, sure, but not the core of the BP.

To my point, and based on the nature of Infinite’s retained BP assuming XP progression isn’t present, challenges will likely have to be more specific like pseudo-achievements.

Dealing with the community makes you age muck quicker. Almost like draining your life force.

Haha. No, it is not that bad for me.

You my friend have a knack for understatement (pun intended). The hivemind/cult over there is pretty set in their misinformed ways.

It’s just a game at the end of the day. If it’s too much, just ignore the online chatter and videos and go in blind. It doesn’t sound very sane to get so emotional about a product. Like, it’s one way to get disappointed every time.

Every Halo game is different. Every one of them has something special that you can’t find in any other one. Halo Infinite will be the same. That’s just the truth. So let this game get out of the gate and then we can discuss it.

Again I just think the simple compromise here is that regular xp from matches should count towards your progress and it shouldn’t be limited to challenges as these should serve as bonuses mostly.

Yeah, I’m out of the OT for some times, getting really tired right now.

Yeah, we do not know what the system will look like at launch. 343i is already being inundated by the manbabies who just want to jump from “red flag” to “red flag” so any actual nuanced conversation about a frigging battle pass is few and far between. We all hope it works well, I don’t see there being much meaningful discussion around the same points being said over and over again. A few have been silenced for the weekend over attacking 343 and Microsoft with bad faith takes, and I hope things don’t keep going that way.

I hope too, it almost feels like you are not allowed to be excited for the game, and actually see how things will be. The next tech test and Inside Infinite blogpost shouls already provide more clarification.

there are some interesting points highlighted in this article that never occurred to me, especially the weapon spawn camping issue that can pop up.
