The reason we’re vsing bots is to improve them, they’ll be using our data to improve the bots just like any AI. They need data to improve, it’s like when they feed AI programs lots of data like self driving cars eventually they get really good. This is why the bots run into the same area on every map every match, they don’t know any better. I’d expect them to improve massively next time we flight + when the game actually launches.
This is why it’s pretty important they get as many games in as possible also the reason why PvP wasn’t enabled the whole time and when it was enabled it was short.
The game is amazing. The bots are rubbish but their grenade throwing is hella annoying. Almost impossible to just straight up firefight them as they can grenade you from any angle.
And their psychic combined with a great first shot. The number of times I saw an AI running away from me and as soon as I had them in my sights they spin 180 and land a shot. They usually still died but they would also get a grenade off to in that interchange.
Overall thoughts on the flighting is the maps we’re great a well varied so hoping for more at launch. I wonder how many maps they plan to launch with. But the 3 we got all were different from each other and allow different game play.
Aim assist still needs to be improved on controller as aiming any precision weapon seems like I’m fighting the gun. Just does not feel fluid compared to most shooters out there. Because of the poor performance of precision wagons I got a lot of time with the assault rifle and the heatwave. The AR was really good close and struggled at distance which is how it should be couldn’t really hit anything across the bazaar open center with the AR so I think it is in a good place now. Heatwave was fun to use low ammo count and usually at least 3 shots when using the wide version and 2 for vertical setting made it a fun weapon to use. Bulldog was also a fun little gun to use in close quarters. And needler does what the needler always did. Shred if in your crosshairs.
Bots I’m hoping we’ll learn better as I didn’t get much time with the spartan versions. Think I had 1 game. Walked around the corner and all 4 one clicked me. Don’t know if my grenade even went off. But once they weren’t together they really weren’t too much different then the odst ones.
Overall was a fun experience some bugs and glitches here and there but for the most part really well done flight hopefully they get the tickets submitted so things can be fixed and polished some more and looking forward to future flights.
Agreed aim assist is needed or stronger aim assist. Agree on weapons AR I think is in a good place. BR hard to use without some aim assist. Do miss Halo 5 pistol though.
Yeah I get that I just think that their grenade throwing is way way too good it needs toning down. Then they’d become a useful training tool. I’ve no doubt they will be tuned but to what extent we don’t know.
Shyway’s the most insightful and informative Halo content creator, period. Glad to see him hit 20K subs, been following for the past year, and one of the few hardcore fans who respects and understands both Bungie and 343’s renditions.
They will probably do that, they just need more data on how we play to make the bots better. I don’t know if how much the grenade throwing will change but you can expect that behaviour to stay, to what extent I don’t know.
If they just decreased deploy time I think it would make a massive difference. Current deploy time seems slower than TTK
I just couldn’t get the hang of the grapple shot until I started using it horizontally. Especially in that map, you can absolutely fly around corners.
They are more than likely using some sort of reinforced ML training. They will take all the data from the millions of matches played and use that to train each of the bot levels. I wouldn’t say any of the bots have been ass, I have seem some pretty interesting stuff out of them. Like that one time I got grappled by a bot with a hammer.
Will be interesting to see improvements into next flighting.
Remember my complaint about the armor looking a lot like concrete rather than metal? I noticed the skin at level 14 that looked like it had a glossy material on it. So I leveled up to get it. And it looks more like metal in game. It has a more suitable amount of metallic sheen.
Maybe they wanted the default skins to look dull in comparison to the better ones? Just wild speculation, but it would make sense.
I was able to test the rocket launcher with a sticky + rocket test, and it does look like the physics are similar to Halo 4’s simplified physics. Which is a huge letdown for me, a guy who prefers the advanced vehicle/explosive physics in Halo 3.
But hey if I want advanced explosive and vehicle physics I could always play Halo 3 on MCC. 99% of people don’t care about this stuff.
I’m a BTB sort of player who doesn’t care about K/D (to the point where I clearly didn’t know how it was conveyed, I was looking at it like a Corsi stat from hockey lol) but I think I’m in the minority. It’s far smarter to go after the eSports gamer in today’s world and it can no longer afford to be viewed as a “Boomer shooter”.
Getting 4 people on a Warthog is bad strategy if you want to win a competitive match (especially when the other team has a Gravity Hammer), but for me and my (boomer) friends it’s about fun. And that’s the beauty of the MCC, I can play all that at 60fps.
So yeah it looks like Infinite might not be for me and that’s ok. MCC covers all the gameplay I’m looking for. Infinite does seem like a solid competitive shooter and should be a big hit. So I personally wouldn’t say Halo is “back” but rather Halo is relevant again. Like any series it evolved and this version will be hugely successful.
I don’t want to sound overly negative. If anything people reading this should look at it as me being overly picky and opinionated. I will definitely play this game and sink a good amount of time and have fun with it as a pure shooter. I think it will resonate with a lot of today’s big streamers. People like Ninja & Dr. Disrespect aren’t goofing around on vehicles when they’re playing. They’re going for high K/Ds and dominating each match. They’re the ones that will sell the game.
So what’s everyone thoughts on the radar? Only shows you people sprinting and shooting. Moving at normal speed doesn’t show you. Was interesting reading a thread on reddit and wondered what everyone here thought on it. I didn’t play against others during the PVP part so not sure how different it would be versus the ai who seemed to sprint alot.
I personally could go either way as it isn’t too big a deal for me. I usually glance at it to check if anyone is around while I’m moving. But no real big deal as swat has no radar and I play that often enough.
I haven’t increased reticle size a, and I sit about 2 meters away from a 43" TV, but I did put the opaque up to the default because I was having a hard time seeing it after I lowered it. My accuracy according to the game ranged from as low as 28% to 55% any given match, I’m thinking of going back to 90 fov to test accuracy but I didn’t think it made a difference to me. Also according to snip3down on Twitter the aim assist is much lower and n the flight than other Halo games(I’m thinking maybe just H5 though).
I’ve been playing at 95. My comfort spot on MCC was 90 so I decided to bump it up a bit. I think 120 may be a little bit too high for good accuracy at mid to long range like you mentioned, especially when you’re not zoomed in.
I didn’t realize this until last night during the PVP. I spent the first three days of the test crouching to avoid being detected. I see myself using sprint way less now that I know this.
That’s all pvp modes in general, unless you create a lobby with people that are just playing to be casual, even the official casual lobbies tend to be that way.
