Mag on ps3 had 250 players in a match. Idk 300 is a lot your right though. Hasn’t warzone done events with up to 200 players? I’ve also seen some upcoming battle royale games with up to 1000 players.
IDK i don’t play Warzone or any of COD games anymore.
BR instead of an invasion mode would sadden me
Would love to have a BR mode implemented. I can see one happening in a year or so to spice the game up.
The game is infinite, so I assume we’ll see a little of everything before the heat death of the universe. Can’t wait for the farming sim gamemode!
Man the sounds are so good. Super Punchy
Wow
I don’t get why anyone would want a Halo BR.
Its super super weird to me. Like when people say ‘the sandbox’ yeah sure but BR is not a good showcase for the stuff you can do in a Halo sandbox. BTB is. As is arena with all the vehicles and toys. But BR? I mean why? Its not all action - its a pretty slow and less sandbox focussed mode. Its why for example Battlefield’s BR didn’t work because the game is simply not build with a BR mindset.
I’m honestly completely lost with why anyone thinks doing that in Halo is a good idea. And I’m also pretty much sick of every game feeling the need to follow a popular trend. BR games are popular because they’ve been built ground up with that design in mind. Even Warzone is not really COD beyond the COD brand. So why do it? Why shoehorn the Halo brand to hit BR? I get that people think it makes money but already there are 3 or 4 incredibly well established BR games and we’ve seen many many try to tap in and fail. Halo just isn’t the fit for it and I’ve no idea why there is clamour for it - especially as most of the clamour seems to come from very lukewarm Halo fans at best. I mean if someone craves a BR game there is fortnite, Warzone, Apex Legends and PUBG. If out of those none of them scratch that itch then maybe its down to the format rather than the game because they cover just about every form of shooter and have been built specifically for that idea.
Important to know that not every thing that leaks as part of some data mining is necessarily even planned on ever releasing. Those leaks often include stuff that got cut and won’t ever see the light of day.
Of course obviously as usual with every game.
I tend to agree, that it doesn’t make a ton of sense for halo. Especially playing as a Spartan. For it to work they would need to change the way guns work, add bullet drop, idk. It’s possible to do and I could see them trying it because the genre is very popular. Maybe an ODST battle royale spin-off.
If they have maps big enough to support 80-200 players I would rather see something different, something that would work without changing halo infinite’s gameplay just for that mode.
I would like to see 25 teams of 4 in a mode, with squad spawning. Maybe you get more points for getting longer sprees, or taking out the best team. Maybe you earn money by completing mini objectives, killing Spartans, or something and you use that money to buy weapons, better shields, equipment n stuff.
Just something unique, not a BR rip-off.
This is exactly what I want. But hey if it has to come out much later because 343 is focused on this game, I’m good with that.
@Zappy5 This isn’t a corner-argument to your points because I think they still stand (the fact that there are other well-established BR games out there, that not all popular big team games work in a BR format) but I just want to touch on why people still want it.
On the PC people had large scale FPS games like Tribes but on consoles Halo 1’s campaign really made it feel like you were on this massive world. When fighting alongside Marines against the Covenant in large areas it felt like nothing else. I think a lot of us would want that same feeling replicated in a multiplayer mode. Where the map is incredibly massive and you can have dozens of players. I’d love a large expansive map where I could drive two minutes in any direction in a warthog and not hit any boundary. The campaign did this with smart loading but no multiplayer map has been this size. And I think this is why campaign co-op is such a valued experience because the multiplayer component doesn’t give you the same feel of scope.
For me it doesn’t have to be BR, and I think a BR mode would be best with the ODST. I think a massive scale Firefight mode where you are on a huge chunk of the Halo ring, would be great. 100 Covenant bots versus 100 human Spartans with only one life, sounds great to me.
I do realize that bigger isn’t always better but for some reason I feel like Halo introduced us to this whole idea like no other game.
So I mentioned this not as a counter argument to the great points you brought up but rather giving you some insight as to why some people like myself want to see large-scale Halo realized.
I want the BotW looking artwork as the background for the campaign screen that was leaked a few months ago.
I absolutely agree with the large scale Halo MP experience. I want that too. I just don’t really want it to be BR as I don’t see a good fit there.
What I’ve wanted for a while is a Battlefield type Halo Conquest gamemode thing. Maybe 64 players or even higher. With conquest points, squads, vehicles. Probably some selectable loadout options too. I know warzone didn’t really work but I think the game had too much going on with the weird PvE/PvP mix. I think a more pared back MP conquest type game would be really good. It would need careful building to work around squad gameplay - we don’t want Halo operation metro where you cannot move without being shot. But I do think this sort of game would absolutely fit the Halo sandbox perfectly. It would also IMO open the game up to a wider audience because it would bring more teamplay and more accessible gameplay to the series. Arena is fun but for a new player its a challenge. BTB is partially an answer but yeah I’ve always wanted full on Halo style warfare with all the great Halo sandbox elements there.
Yea im pretty sure the background isn’t reflective of final game
More evidence of a Battle Royale Mode?
