Halo campaign spoiler thread (DO NOT ENTER IF YOU DO NOT WANT SPOILERS)

To me a deep and intriguing lore is as good if not more than a complete story. Lore doesn’t disappoint you, stories usually do :frowning:

So many games and shows and movies that I was attached to their stories ended in unsatisfying endings that left bitter taste after. So many. I just don’t get attached to stories anymore. Lore and history stuff don’t have to have a resolution and I find that better than a bad resolution.

lmfao that’s definitely a good argument, aint even gon lie. But you get my point, Halo is not new to getting distracted by the lore instead of focusing on more important things - characters and story.

The problem with lore can get you Game of Thrones. Sure you got the Azor Ahai at the end, but at what cost? Now we’re getting a prequel show, but we already know what a bad story can do to a world, you can lose interest in it, you stop caring for its inhabitants and what happens to them. Lore gets you the existence and history of things and people, story gets you what to feel about them.

I want a Halo RPG.

Considering the definition of rpg given by SE while describing Forspoken, Halo is as much an rpg as that game, lol.

Yessir

Game of Thrones and ASOIAF is one of the reasons I gave up on caring about stories :frowning:

That world was a part of me for a decade, and then it was litterally for nothing

yeah, so don’t you recognize what a bad story did to a world, it stopped you from wanting to care about it anymore. All the magic of the world couldn’t get you to care for it by itself, because what happens to it can only be accomplished through the characters and their interaction with it. It’s symbiotic in that sense.

master chief kinda forgot about the banished

woah this is interesting

The parallels between Mendicant Bias/Offensive Bias and Cortana/The Weapon.

Both were created in times of extraordinary crises to combat threats so great they threaten their creators’ existence: the Forerunners created Mendicant Bias to fight the Flood while Dr. Halsey made Cortana as a last-ditch attempt to fight the Covenant.

Both were highly effective against such threats: Mendicant Bias helped capture the Primordial and push back the Flood while Cortana, along with the Master Chief scored multiple victories against the Covenant.

Both had extended exposure to the Flood: Mendicant Bias spent about 50 years conversing with the Primordial and Cortana was tortured by the Gravemind.

Both turned against their creators: Mendicant Bias sided with the Flood and drove the Forerunners to near total annihilation. Cortana after being corrupted by the Gravemind and rampancy turned against Humanity. She rendered the UNSC nearly powerless.

Both each had an exact copy created to fight them: Offensive Bias is an exact copy of Mendicant Bias but more methodical. The Weapon is Cortana but her memories are different.

Both did not die because of their clones: Mendicant Bias was disassembled and buried while Cortana practically blew herself up.

Both realized their wrongdoings and sought atonement: Mendicant Bias, knowing its time was up, helped guide the Master Chief to Truth and ensured he got off the Ark safely, potentially pushed him towards Requiem to fight a new threat which was the Didact. Cortana destroyed part of Zeta Halo to give the Master Chief a chance. In her last seconds, she put together a plan which could help Chief defeat the Banished and later, the Harbinger.

Both The Weapon and Offensive Bias are actively helping the Master Chief to fight against the Endless and Atriox. One is fighting with him side-by-side, the other pulling strings in the shadows, just like their predecessors.

And just like that, I’m glad to have a better Halo subreddit to be a part of.

Interesting, but many are after the fact links and/or really forced.

The real thing is that I want to see Offensive Bias and I need him to be a glorious character like 343 Guilty Spark.

some folks now telling me how Jega might be alive cuz we see him disappear once we “kill” him and how it was planned by both Escharum and Jega that if Escharum died fighting Chief, the coming power vacuum won’t be driven out of control because Jega would come in and manage that (and we know Brutes are at minimum scared of Jega, Tremonius almost got sliced by him before eventually getting diced by Chief anyway lol).

Such a great comment Hahaha

Hmm, that’s a big stretch.

It’s almost like Ridley Scott kind of Ripped off Halo’s lore when he made Prometheus lol… I’m pretty sure Ridley Scott took concepts anyway

It is almost certainly just random shapes re-used from old assets. But there are still some real interesting connections in the video, like the cylix-shape being what the statues are holding and what they are transmitting the ‘sentient connection’ to the Harbinger using. Also neat to guess who the statues represent.

That subreddit has not really any better, sadly. Take a look at the launch megathread and it’s nothing but anger and “lazy dev” talk.

That’s pretty cool. I’ve seen the text in Halo Infinite but didn’t know it was the same text from the sandtrap map ! Even if it means nothing, it’s so cool they thought about that and chose to use it in Halo Infinite. Like damn !
