The Federal Trade Commission has given notice to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit that it is appealing the decision made by Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley to not grant the preliminary injunction it sought against Microsoft and Activision-Blizzard’s merger. And according to The Verge, the regulator needs the Court of Appeals to issue an emergency stay on the temporary restraining order that prevents both companies from merging, which is set to expire this Friday at midnight, on the 14th of July.

Both companies are still working with the United Kingdom’s Competition & Markets Authority to clear their block on the merger. Some analysts believe the deal will close (read complete) by the merger’s expiration date which is set for next Tuesday the 18th, and both companies could potentially choose to close over the CMA.

again you get what you vote for

Trying to save face I guess, although, legal stuff has always been weird to watch as you basically have to exhaust all the options you have, leading to this kind of shitshow in some instances.

They are paid to do this, but I hope they just settle on some remedies with MS, as it’s dragging and everyone suffers. Time to end that battle for good.

Um…what? You can’t be implying what I think you’re implying…right?
