Forza Horizon 5: E3 Gameplay Demo; Game Launches November 9th 2021

The footage is 30fps, IGN just uploaded it as a 60fps video for no apparent reason. It repeats every frame as a result.

Nah, even with great motion blur, you can always see the 30 vs 60 fps difference, the movements and camera are heavier anyway.

Not the frame rate difference… But the visual difference in those modes

You can see it easily when the camera pans.

As @nrXic says, the motion blur is very well implemented in Horizon 5 which helps make things look a bit smoother, but any time the car or camera is turning you can see the slight jerkiness to the pan.

Man I just hope there’s more cross-studio/cross-game synergy in this one.

Forza Horizon 4 had some of it with the Warthogs, Musical Horns and stuff, but I want more.

It might be too late to add ALL the Bethesda stuff in, but hopefully some made it’s way in there, and we can get more cool stuff from other XGS studios in there.

Maybe Raz’s goggles as a cosmetic item? The Skiff from Gears 5 as an unlockable car? COG armor? A We Happy Few mask? I love that kind of stuff.

Damn it… I am not talking about frame rate difference… But the visual settings difference in between those two modes

🤦

Ah, sorry, it wasn’t clear. Yeah, probably they are indistinguishible without zoom and/or very careful observations you never do during normal gameplay.

Well they have stated, as quoted above, that they have reduced certain settings to reach 60fps.

If you couldn’t tell the difference between them, what would be the point in the settings in the first place? Why wouldn’t they just release a 60fps mode alone?

Hey. FH4 is like 9 dollars on steam right now here in my country lol. But I still wouldn’t wanna buy it knowing this bad boy is on the… horizon.

FH4 is still great to have, moreso at 9 bucks.

Get you in the mood for Mexico.

yeah maybe for mexico

It often happens that while in the gameplay certain things like shadow quality and reflection and other vehicle details goes unnoticed due to the action going on screen.

Remember the Gears 5 ultra reflections on PC vs the mirror like reflections on Xbox series X which were actually high reflections only.

Or for example ultra shadows which are sharp and soft (more accurate) compared to high shadows which are always sharp(less accurate)

These kind of ultra settings doesn’t matter much during fast paced action. So having high settings won’t take much away from the game anyway.

That’s why I said without the help DF, wee may not see the visual difference between two modes.

I have bought the DLC only on Gamepass. Maybe once it is delisted they might offer the full game for free

Better to wait for Forza Horizon 5, before you know they will phase out FH4 support hitting end-of-life.

I may be in the minority but I find low res shadows in games very distracting. Breaks the realism of the world to have badly aliased charcoal smudges laid over everything. :unamused:

What matters most for me is the global illumination (lighting) . Shadows become part of it but shadow’s resolution and its accuracy doesn’t bother me.

Infact I prefer eye candy stuff. Sharp shadows and mirror like reflections

Global illumination is effectively about shadow and light, so you can’t care about global illumination and not about shadows.

For me, nothing ruins a loving created game world more than slapping low res noisy smudges of shadows over everything. It’s almost like profane grafitti. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

These games tend to be removed from stores due to licensing issues so that’s something consider as well.

When it comes to these Horizon games each game offers something unique and is worth visiting.

With Forza Motorsport, for example, if you missed out on Forza Motorsport 5 it’s not like you’re missing a lot. In fact you’ll find a lot of the same content but done better in the new version.

But with the Horizon series each one offers a completely unique map, some unique cars, a unique soundtrack that is a snapshot of its time, and unique progression/gameplay/story. I do realize the game is light on story but the first game is very different from the 4th game in terms of your role in the Horizon festival.

Also, welcome to Xbox Era!
