ESO updates going forward

Going through Futerko’s overview video now but need to watch the full presentation later.

But from what I have seen:

Seasonal Model

Sailing/Naval Battles

Increasing the items that can be placed in a player home.

Some info for future seasons after Season 0, but it could change because of their new approach.

I wonder if this is an effect of the cancelation? Without a second game Zenimax Online Studios is now wholly dependent on turning ESO into a forever game and keeping it a financial success.

It’s a fair accessment as they lost and got extra people back after Blackbird.

But they have also been talking of changing things for a while. I think the current content pass will become the saeson pass.

Will they still be bringing out expansions or only seasonal content going forward?

Expansions are still happening, but they won’t be doing doing it like before(although they did say that about the content pass, which should cost less if they’re planning 3 to 4 seasons per year).

One of the pictures mentions a new trial, and that’s likely how they will introduce new zones as well.

I also suspect that the solo dungeons are going to have a similar difficulty to the arenas.

The feature I wish they would add is crossplay and cross saves. I have a decent amount of time on both this game and Fallout 76 but considering I’m mostly transition to the PC Xbox Store, I really wish they’d make all of your purchases and progress move between versions as I don’t feel like starting over again but at the same time would like the flexibility to keep going on PC and not have to pay for online multiplayer if I want to.

what exactly was blackbird?

Probably not a good idea, as between the use of macros, player economy and limited vendor spaces.

Console players would get shut out of a lot things.

I believe it was the name of the second MMORPG they were working on, before the layoffs and cancellation.

I agree! They really need to invest in by next generation. Cloud versions of ESO ain’t enough

The overall update is amazing!! I wish they had a XboxPC ESO version for the game

Apparently cross-play is being “worked on” but they don’t expect it to happen soon with everything they have to account for. Crossprogession and purchase would be even more difficult. Aren’t the PC and Console versions still on different update schedules? They’d have to figure out content parity first.

Thanks for the info!

Crossprogression would be the best for me as depending how things go, I might just keep my Series X for BC and fully move to Xbox PC as I can build something much more powerful than what MS can (for more money of course!) so if the few GAAS games I’ve started on Xbox can keep my progress in the PC version, I’d be a happy camper. I unfortunately do not have the luxury of spending hundreds of hours of my time as well as the money to get back to where I am. I could still play on the Xbox version, but long term I might drop Gamepass and go back to buying games once in a while as I feel like the time I have to play gets shorter and shorter all the time so if I don’t have to pay for online (like on PC!) then it’d be even better for me!

One thing I’m really hopeful for is that playfab cloud save tool added recently with an incentive for using it for Xbox published games. Hopefully that can make cross progression more standard for games even if they don’t support Xbox Play Anywhere. Though I suppose that’ll unfortunately only be for new games.
