Elden Ring |OT| Rise Tarnished & Become The Elden Lord (of the dance!)

is anyone not able to connect online. im connected to the internet and it keeps saying it failed to connect

I can’t connect. Been trying for hours. I have it on PS5 as well and connect fine every time there. Not sure what’s going on. This game really needs a lot of work on Series X, and I hope From cares enough to do it.

In this video Amok also shows bits from a IGN video showing a significant edge for PS5 in terms of loading times. Not quite slight and in a game like this it’s preferable to have short loading.

And also apparently a slightly higher resolution and as we all know slightly higher framerate too. So it seems he’s been doing some testing.

Well, there goes my theory that XSX was slightly under PS5 framerate because of possibly a higher resolution. Sigh.

It’s a fun game, but From are complete bums when it comes to optimization.

The IGN video is from one with questionable technical character because they’re so heavily a Sony Fan [NXG]. In addition to that, they are quick to jump to unsupportive conclusions. Most of their claims in the past have no basis at all. We’ve seen him go after Xbox for many sync/stutter issues claiming they are I/O issues when they were API problems that were resolved in later game patch or dashboard patch. So take any/all IGN tech videos from him with grains of salt.

Honestly the loading times difference pisses me off the most, how can it be that big of a gap for some parts that he’s showing?

Resolution is total nonsense as well, how Sway. It was like this with the Network Test, seems they didn’t change it at all.

Ok, that’s good to know. I didn’t know this ,and clearly neither did Amok4All.

But the loading times seem real. Whether resolution info is true…we gotta wait for DF then. But it seems Xbox got the least of optimization of the consoles. We haven’t have many games yet where loading times were this much in favour of PS.

FROM needs either more time or more technical developers. The loading time stuff could be them not using Xbox Velocity Architecture and instead using fallback code that’s shared with the PC side just using basic I/O. The PC doesn’t have Velocity Architecture yet, that’s still in internal development with Microsoft. Even if Velocity Architecture was available to devs, I doubt developers at From would even bother with it, because they seem overwhelmed with all the basic technical requirements for DX12. They really should have pulled in help/assistance from Nvidia/Amd/Microsoft a year ago to get the help they need.

Frankly I find it ridiculous that people are resorting to this

Yeah, for sure. They definitely could have used the help. This situation seems different than Sekiro. Without VRR in mind none of the versions are ideal, but PS5 should not have the resolution and framerate edge at all. Not to mention the loading times. You’re probably right on the money about Velocity Architecture, because I don’t recall many,if any games that had this big of a gap between them for loading times.

6.3 seconds on PS5 and 19,7 on XSX at one part, come on now.

I was going to wait with buying the game anyway and it honestly isn’t a bad thing. I guess it increases the chances of them fixing it,…if.

Just lost all my runes due to some bullshit death. This sure is a souls game.

wait so elden ring has higher rez higher frame rate and quicker load times on ps5?

I was starting to regret choosing a dex/magic build a little because I haven’t been able to find any combat spells other than my starters, and my toothpick shortsword does barely any damage to these bosses, but I just found a pair of claws I can double-hand that are fast and pretty strong and so much fun to use. I’ve never been a fan of claw weapons in previous Souls games because they always seemed kind of weak, but using these I feel like I’m doing really violet ballet or something.

Strictly the result of developers not having the required level of technical know-how or not given the time to put forth the effort required for PC and Xbox Series platforms. None of the versions of the game they put out are on the level of titles from other developers. There’s still large framerate drops and hitches and slowdowns on PS5.

Does anybody know the Amazon Pre-Order DLC is?

They sent me my code but I have no idea what is was since ER was a gift and the person sent me the code.

Also stupid snow storm delayed my ER to Monday.

If it’s the store pre-order bonus it’s a digital guide and emote

Right now, yep.

The loading times bug me out the most, in a game like this where you die a lot…meh.

It should have at least been a Sekiro situation. Really, I thought with the new consoles we’d get a stable From game but who was I kidding.
