Saw an interersting poll today on a local gaming site about which platform people was going to play Elden Ring on. This pretty much reflects Xbox position here:

1. PC: 48%
2. PS: 43%
3. Xbox: 9%

Thing is it was even worse last gen, much worse, so this is actually an improvement.

Thing is Starfield won’t even be releasing on PlayStation

I wonder if PS6 no longer supports backwards compatibly with PS4/5… will people regret choosing to buy the game on PlayStation? At least when you buy Elden Ring on Xbox or PC you know it will be future proof. I personally don’t trust Sony’s ecosystem.

I too will enjoy Starfield more but im talking bout the GOTY 2022 award Elden Ring has it already i can’t see any other game beating it even if Starfield get a 90-95 it would still be lower than Elden Ring so a Xbox 1st party studio hope of winning GOTY is not happening this year

Xbox had the highest rated new game last year by a few points and they still didn’t get it so I could care less about these award shows I know Xbox will eventually get them and I still wouldn’t care because wether it’s movies, music, games award shows are just populist garbage with a lot of friendly politics going on behind the scenes. Too often it’s not the one who deserves it but the one who has the best connections.

Back on topic, FromSoft is one of my fav studios. They are up there with the best. Can’t wait to play this. I was expecting great reviews but not THIS great like WOW. Just hope the rumors of Sony getting an exclusive from them for one of their next games isn’t true. Or worse if they buy 'em. That would be a major blow. They make such unique, high level and very popular games.

Elden Ring, potentially GOW, potentially Zelda and Starfield. What a damn year this is gonna be. Not just great games but potentially 4 generational games. What a time to be a gamer.

Makes me wonder if this would make it extra challenging for Xbox to get a deal done for a exclusive, for example. The good thing however is that Xbox is able to say…hey, we’re on both Xbox and PC. So that’s a plus, not only Xbox console owners will play, or not play.

Yeah the move to PC for Xbox is absolute key in a market like this where PC is very strong. That was a necessity I think.

As for exclusives, it should actually be easier since PC+Xbox is bigger than PS.

I’d love for this to happen, hopefully Xbox and FS think the same. But let’s first see what’s next for them, maybe a expansion for ER or maybe straight to the next project which according to rumors would then be for PS.

I’m going into this essentially blind, but from what I’m hearing hopefully other devs take notes from the open world here, and we move past this:

Into actually interesting worlds you WANT to explore.

I heard there is not much in the way of checklist stuff or quest markers… That’s a major plus for me, it means they were confident enough the world was memorable and interesting without this stuff.

Had they done it I wonder how much of a subs mover it would have been. I mean it would have been huge, but according to what Mort posted earlier not a lot of people are playing it on Xbox. Of course Game Pass means PC too, well, assuming MS of course would have included it for that. Could have been huge overall for GP, but for Xbox as console…

Xbox is probably doing a lot better in other markets than here though Game Pass PC is doing a lot of heavy lifting here for MS though, so that would have been lots of subs.
