I don’t know if it’s the best, I don’t play much in that regard but it would appear to me based on most aspect Fortnite is the best in that regard. But Bungie did spearhead a lot of the GaaS practices last-gen with Destiny.
That’s what happens when management directs resources to marathon while they already have the best game on the market.
I would love to see Sony take over, cancel marathon and put everyone back on destiny.
Then bring back Luke Smith as the game director…

Lots of rumours flying around about Destiny these days. It does feel like its goose is cooked.
It must be embarrassing for Helldivers to succeed on what, I guess, would be a fraction of Bungie’s running costs. There are a lot of talented devs at Bungie, so here’s hoping they can turn it around.

Destiny still gets over 500k unique players daily and we are in the lowest point content wise in a while with a delayed expansion and overdrawn season…
What other game gets this many players logging in daily ? In the lowest point in the game new content wise ?

No need to try and downplay destinys success.
I see so many people parroting that the game is in poor state but it’s really not, the games never been better.
We are getting a horde mode in 2 weeks, it’s going to be fantastic !

Honestly I think people here pretend like destiny is bad because it’s now owned by Playstation.
I’m not saying it’s a bad game, if you scroll up I even talk about some of it’s positives!
But to be completely naive and pretend everything about it is positive makes no sense either…
You asked what other games have as many players as Destiny 2 and I provided a plethora of examples including many larger games which you completely dismissed because of your own bias.
If you don’t believe me go look up the numbers yourself…

Some of those games have high player counts sure but I don’t understand how you think 500k concurrent for destiny is something to scoff at ?
And monetization wise last year on steam it has a platinum award for amount of revenue generated.
The game is doing great !

Also why are you applauding monetization? As a player I don’t want to be monetized, if I wanted that I would go to mobile where I have to pay for more lives every 5 minutes…

I want more monetization in any game I enjoy. More monetization= continued support of a game long term.
Look at the sad case of MCC, there’s a topic about it but the long short is that they stopped support because the community didn’t want them to add a monetization source.

I think there’s a difference in wanting to support a game and monetization for the sake of it. Especially if then they then remove paid content…
Regarding the tracker I’m always dubious of any tracker site that doesn’t clarify how it sources/calculates the information, however I have just looked at multiple similar trackers for Destiny 2 and they all provide vastly different figures.
For example this one suggests it’s around 71k daily: Destiny 2 Active Player Count & Population
A few articles suggest that approximately 40% of the Destiny 2 playerbase is on PC (Steam/Epic) with Steam being the main platform typically hanging around the 40-45K daily figure. Again this is not bad, it’s a good number of regular active players I just don’t think it’s as high as you allude.

The website I linked is legit it’s hooked into the API and can see how many unique players a day launch a PVP or PvE activity.
Lmao at trusting MMO tracker websites which base their player counts off nothing.
In this thread I sung Destiny’s praises, it always seems to have decent steam numbers and usually makes bronze for sales. Which would only be a fraction of it actually making money.
Maybe the rumours are BS, I don’t care enough about the game to know. I only know the leaked data that suggests it’s burning cash.
‘Doom’ narratives are often BS if it wasn’t for the culling I wouldnt give it a second thought.

I understand wanting to protect your favourite game, however ignoring any other views or information isn’t a discussion…

Because it contained the line “you can tell Phil is salty as he stopped playing destiny 2 daily after Sony bought out Bungie.” and someone flagged it, said flag was approved by me.
It’s likely true as Phil has stopped playing destiny since then, but whatever if people are offended I’ll remove that part if you can restore my post.
