9999 is hit way too early imo.
Honestly considering the damage I had to do for the second picture, itās ok to have a character hitting things hard so early. Because enemy health is increasing by a lot and this is still the early area of the game.
They could ratio it better, perhaps. It makes the enemies feel more grindy than the actually are.
I am enjoying this a lot but I really donāt think itās as astonishing as some seem to.
Iām on the opposite end, this is the best turn base combat I have played, with Valkyrie Profile being a close second.
Oh I like the combat, and the world. Itās all very good. I just think the story, pacing and certain elements of the design are worthy of critique.
Thatās every story ever made, because they all have something thatās just not completely thought out.
But by that token any critique is pointless, which clearly isnāt true.
I like the game a lot, the combat is fun and some of the world design is superb. I just also think it has issues.
That first sentence is not how that works, nothing is perfect but itās all open to criticism. But as you know taste varies between people, and I may not agree with what you find fault with.
A bit unrelated butā¦

āHello, trophy.ā
-Devs probably
I think I found the one mechanic I donāt like(not really spoilers, since we can encounter the first early on but still), Iāve encountered it before and there was an actual way around it.
But the second version of one shot removes a character is just so much BS even with the ability to counter it, especially when the enemy pulls it out of their ass on the 2nd turn on the second attempt, when I donāt have enough practice to learn their timing for any of their moves. I managed to win on the second attempt, as they didnāt do the move again until they had less than half health and Luneās mayhem does go ham on the damage.
Found a thing that lets damage go over 9999, hurrah. Gameplay so great. Story Iām not really engaging with, despite all the great music and visuals and Clear Serious Moments etc. I just donāt really find it very interesting. But am keen to tune my team up to mega damage levels!
I feel like Iām starting to hit a wall with combat, specifically bosses, both area and world. There have been several fights now where I have gotten very lucky that the passive I invested in is saving me last minute, after my main team is taken down(one time as they got taken down).
While a good thing that my set up is working and Iām getting through on 2 to 3 attempts, itās also shows Iām not good enough with timing windows for parries and dodges. Which makes me feel Iām going to have another Sekiro situation where I stop at the final boss because I canāt beat them.
Completed the game in approximately 50 hours at level 60 on story difficulty. Will have a review later this week. All I will say is that Expedition 33 is as of now, my 2025 game of the year. Simply, a superb game.
Installed a few mods which included the HDR mod and few performance fixes and after messing with some settings the game feels decent to play and not as washed out.
Going to give it a shot again but the dodge is still hard for me to gauge
Right there with you on parry and dodge timing, especially on delayed attacks or fake outs.
I finished the game, but I think I passed like half of the content. I still miss one of Esquieās ability. And what about the greyed out area locked behind a watery wall. I feel like I played the game wrong. Iāll get back for the updates and maybe DLC.
I only have like 2 abilities with Esquie so far, but I have been running around doing everything I can, getting my ass kicked by a random Nevron, deciding theyāre too Sprong for now and going to fight other Nevrons.
Made it to act 3 and I like the story, also Lune is my broken character, I know everyone is for Maelle and her awesome 200% damage stance, but Lune spreads the pain equally to everyone and itās beautiful!
I just reached the end of Act 1. I have feelingsā¦
