Xbox Game Pass advertising this a lot. They even link the cloud gaming site to play now.
Crazy how this game is $19 less than Oblivion Remastered.
So I suck at parrying. Nothing new, I just hope to get used to the battle system timing enough to not make every battle last a year, lol.
Edit: Also, love the fact we can switch between Performance and quality at any time even during combat.
Theyāre the same price. Itās why you see folks dunking on Nintendo, mainly Zelda with $80 upgrade version with no DLC.
Likely speaking on regional pricing, for me in the US is likely the same pricing(50 for regular 60 for extra stuff). But that doesnāt mean Bethesda wouldnāt have decided on a higher price else where.
The reasoning could even be depending on the country the game was made in.
Where did you find Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 for $30.99 total?
In the US they are priced identically.
Poland on Steam. On Xbox itās closer to $5 difference. And Xbox is most expensive platform to buy CO:E33 on in Poland.
The most annoying thing for me it the parry and dodge system and I cant get the hang of it. Might also be a skill issue, I am also finding it hard to judge how quick the attack is vs the speed of the doge and parry window. It is getting to a point where its impacting my experience
The other thing is the visuals, the game has a very washed out look and the visuals really dont feel current gen tbh and almost feel like they are lacking another coat of pain on top
Trying turning off film grain and chromic aberration for the look of the colors. From there though you need to mess around with the gamma, contrast and brightness in the game menu to change the look to your liking.
As for the timing only thing to do is practice or turn on the auto qte. I donāt know if this does all dodges and parries or just dodges, as Iām not far into the game yet.
I tired film grain off straight away. Havent tried turning off Chromic aberration
The Qte prompts are super quick as well. I just wish there was a clear distinction of when the attack would actually land. I just felt some attacks take longer than others and its hard to gauge when to dodge.
Yeah, timing is different for attacks so that can taje time to memorize. Itās something brought up in the review, I think Jesse said the stronger enemies can have up to 4 attacks.
Chromic Aberration and Film grain both add to making a games over all look seem like an older movie. They the first 2 settings I hope every game can let me turn off, because I have never found them particularly good looking.
Some of them can have like⦠10? thatās real late game, though.
Iām going to have a really rough time with this game.
So QTE assist only makes sure our attacks are perfect, dodging and parrying needs to be done by us.
Also, holy shit does it feel good to dodge or parry, I suck at it and had to fight my first strong monster several times before I got them.
I am enjoying this a lot, but have a few quibbles:
- the standard enemies become very easy in each zone, no need to experiment. Just cycle the same combos.
- a lot of the skills feel very similar to each other, in look and effect (Luneās differentiation via the stains is great at combatting this: Scieleās and Maelleās moves feel rather unvaried)
- I swear there are some bullshit input issues. One: I cannot run forwards without changing character, at times. Two: some parries feel off. Might just be skill, but somethingās not quite right at points.
- itās a small cast but even then Iād struggle to tell you the interesting differences between people, other than Maelle and Esquiue, and even then Maelle is primarily distinct because of certain things that happen, not because sheās particularly rounded.
Outside of this though I am having a lot of fun. I like the boss fights (they actually demand experimentation and not just brute force), and the world/feel is really fun to explore. Iām still not entirely clear of the mythos, perhaps Iāve missed some lore. I have a horrible feeling the story will boil down to something rather familiar, but I might be wrong.
Awesome game. I love it⦠10/10
