BREAKING: Microsoft has officially acquired Activision-Blizzard-King

Getting Bobby out before 2024 starts would be perfect.

Oh I fully expect some glorious videos from Alex, Fritanga and others covering some of that. Hopefully soon. :smiling_imp:

It’s confirmed he’s leaving end of this year.

Just take a look at Twitter to see the impact of this deal . There are a lot of people who think that COD will not be released on PlayStation and they will buy Xbox for this reason.

Imagine what Microsoft can do next year with exclusive marketing, the impact will be huge

Kotick should have an anti-competition clause like Kamiya, I don’t want Kotick on PS

At the end of 2017 this was the state of Xbox, 1600 devs at the most. The investment and growth have been staggering, probably the fastest any Publisher has ever grown. And not just growth for the sake of it, they grew by adding top tier creators, some of the very best in the industry.

When Phil made the comment at E3 saying that they want to build an industry leading 1st party organisation, I didn’t take him seriously at that time, but the man has delivered. Imagine going back in time and telling an Xbox fan in 2017 that in 5 years, this would be the state of Xbox. Crazy!

I want Bobby Kotick and John Riccitiello battle it out for the role of new president of Playstation. That would be so funny.

Seriously, what a surreal moment. Throughout this whole ordeal it’s been hard for me to fully process what it would feel like to have some of my favorite franchises be in the fold of my preferred console/ecosystem. It still hasn’t fully sunken in, but I can finally start thinking about it seriously. What a strange and possibly pivotal moment for the industry.

Didn’t the email leaks imply that battle net staff would create a new PC store?

It’s finally over. It’s funny seeing gamers on other site and Reddit lose their minds and call it a dark day in the industry when the actual devs and the unions are excited.

It’s like they still don’t get that ABK was selling, someone was going to buy they. It wasn’t a forced sale by Microsoft.

My dream is Xbox stop the CoD mill and allows the side devs to go and make the games they want.

Now please please please make a Spyro 4. It’s all my wife wants.

Seemingly? There is no seemingly about it Geoff. Get your head around it. You’ve only had nearly two years to get used to this.

He may have asked ChatGPT. Activision has no ownership of the Tenchu IP for example, they only published a few of them.

Tenchu Z on 360 was even published by MS themselves at least in the West.

Anyone else find it interesting that a thread on ResetEra about workers being able to join unions now from ABK has yet to leave the first page but everyone seems to be outraged and we have 20 pages on the deal closing thread…

Spyro 4?

Not surprising at all. Imran Khan summed up that place perfectly when he called the community there ‘Performatively Woke’.

Bobby is an excellent businessman but PS would be out of their minds to employ him

and don’t forget, they are totally 100% against consolidation and it has absolutely nothing to do with their favourite platform being PS, no way :upside_down_face:

Hypothetical situation there: MS were blocking people joining unions- 8000 pages and counting - outrage central

Sony were blocking people joining unions - 5 pages of ‘meh’ and ‘maybe it’s for the best to maximise creativity’ and whataboutery

Microsoft are enabling unionisation - 2 pages of ‘good I guess’

Sony are enabling unionisation - 5000 pages about why they’ve saved gaming from evil corporations.

It’s cause it was never about the workers. It’s just console warring. They say they care about people losing jobs to redundancy or studios being closed if they don’t do well, like that wasn’t happening before l. Yet…. Don’t see the good that the unions can actually form for the better of the industry.
