Almost entirely my own words for a change, didn’t just copy store descriptions over. Took a while but was fun. So much coming next week.
30 games in a week is freaking insane. Holy crap!!!
I think… there might be too many games. Not joking, how does all these find an audience?
It happens most weeks, sometimes its 40
I keep misreading this as “Borderlands 4 leaks over 30 games”. Might have something to do with my entire lack of sleep - both quantity and quality - this week.
I mean it doesn’t lmao. That’s one of the biggest issues in the industry right now, yeah? There’s just massive oversaturation and publishers haven’t really figured out to do with that except chasing more trends and throwing in more features (pushing up development costs). The market doesn’t even have that much price differentiation. It’s especially gotten bad on the AAA scene.
It’s really interesting actually because for the most part unlimited subscription libraries like Game Pass with day one games haven’t taken over like Netflix or Spotify. And there’s all this fear mongering over them, but really gaming is already having the streaming over saturation problems except we’re expected buy all of these (or if they’re a free live service we’re expected to devote all our time to them and buy every single skin).
Meanwhile the only games I’m buying this year at launch are (were) Helldivers 2 and Digimon Story Time Stranger. The only one I bought at launch last year was Metaphor and Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth. Full priced games are a big expense and it’s only going to keep getting harder for any one game to succeed with more and more game releases. It’s not so much an issue for gamers right now, but it’s one you’d expect publishers to be doing more to address.
