Combination of being too ambitious + bad management.
I would say that Covid and an unwillingness to give the long delay that was needed are more responsible that ambition.
Its not a good game even if it wasnāt completely broken. The maps are awful. They donāt suit a mix of vehicle and infantry combat. Too open and favour vehicles over everything.
The gunplay even if they fix the multitude of problems and bugs needs to feel consistent and Iām unconvinced it will.
Movement is janky and feels very unnatural and looks even worse.
The player count just doesnāt work and renders the game not fun - because you either have clusters or nothing. Its all one paced. Very very boring.
The very minimum to get this to a passable 5/10 release state is a complete redesign of all maps, fix the broken gunplay and ensure firefights and engagements are consistent. The maps need more structures, and infantry friendly elements building in. There needs to be more destruction and tactical elements to the game.
Thatās the absolute bare minimum to turn this into something respectable and that resembles a poor, but at least still AAA shooter experience.
I think the game will be long dead before DICE get even half way to turning this into something even a quarter as good as any past Battlefield game.
More I play it the more I realise this just isnāt any fun. Its bad design. Unfinished and never ever ever should have been released. Iām going for a refund as they donāt deserve money for this.
EA should never ever have let this see the light of day. For all the stick cyberpunk got it was a million times better than this game.
After like 2 weeks launch what yall think about the game?
I have fun when playing with friends but this thing still needs like 6 more months in the oven.
I like it. Iām juggling between Halo Infinite, BF 2042 and FH 5 right now and itās great !
They need to balance some stuff like weapons and vehicles, outside of fixing the laundry list of issues, although I will say that I was expecting way worse for a BF launch. BF 4 first 6 months were wild !!
I unlocked most of the weapons now and Iām checking Portal from time to time. I prefer playing 2042 or against bots, but itās fine. I hope they can start adding new content soon though, because it begins to get a little stale already.
I think next-year, people will warm up to the game. When it works, thereās really no other game that can touch what 2042 has to offer.
Hourglass is one of the best BF maps ever ! Iām not joking.
I played some of the beta and some of the 10 hour demo through EA Play.
Not ready to invest money into this game. Itās just not there yet, and what is thereā¦isnāt what I come to Battlefield for.
I think by the time itās patched up, itāll be available on EA Play and thatās likely when Iāll hop in.
I dont regret buying its not making a good case right now in taking me away from Halo lol.
Iāve been holding my self back from playing, I know itās broken but the Battlefield shill in me is begging to buy it lol.
BF got the same grip on me like the Assassinās Creed games do.
Man when those āBattlefield momentsā happen its a fucking dream seeing 128 lunatics going at it.
I have found better uses for my money/time, but I also admit none of my friends have picked it up, so I have no social pressure to buy it. EAās not a charity organization, so Iām not going to buy a game just to not play it, you know?
Iām glad people are enjoying it, all that said.
Is the aim assist on controllers at least fixed after the latest update? I canāt believe they canāt get something as simple and basic as aim assist right with this game. The majority of their player base is on consoles too. How can they screw up this bad and not even be vocal about how they will fix it. They nailed the aim assist, gunplay, and movement in Battlefield 5. All 3 of those things are off in this game. Itās sad to say but the best days of Dice and Battlefield as we knew it are behind us now. The end of an era. Dice Sweden clearly isnāt the studio it used to be and it hasnāt been for a long time. Hopefully, Vince Zampella and Ripple Effect Studio can come up with something fresh that can revive the franchise.
Very scary stat for BF 2042
Oh, damn⦠yeah that looks like a lot of stuff. Thanks!
Oh shit, I was hoping this thread would never get bumped
I talked so much crap when the game first launched about how I was right, all the doom and gloom was overblown; the game was actually great; saying I was keeping receipts on people, etc. etc.
ā¦NOPE!!!
I was as wrong as Iād probably ever been. Hahaha. I would like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who could have taken the opportunity to clap me hard back then and didnāt. Or maybe I should thank DICE and EA for doing such an awful job with the game, so no one even wanted to talk about it after a short while
At least now, it seems like it may be in a state where it is worth finally reinstalling. I will brave it this weekend and see
Spoiler : Nice update, but doesnāt really change the game. Bolte are still so unsufferable. Anti-tank and Anti-Air make little damages so itās so hard to kill anything. Helicopters are hell, like why do vehicles auto-repair in BF ?? Thatās not fair.
Performances are still bad with slow down on certain maps on Series X. I already crashed once since the update.
Thereās progress though. The game feels more responsive and attachments are more balanced. I really like the game, but itās still rough and unbalanced.
Ah yeah⦠Watching real footage of AA and AT from Ukraine makes BF look rather stupid in that regard hehe.

I was so hyped for this game, being a BF player since 1942, but after playing the free trial and hating it, I kept my money in my pocket. Iām just hoping it will be in a playable state by the time it hits gamepass. I had some fun playing the bad company maps and BF3 maps, does anybody still play in them modes? Or is it dead now.
I forgot to say that the ācar exploding on a loopā bug is still thereā¦
So annoying. Fix this pleaseā¦
