Thanks for the tips.
Yea, I just will never play RTWP so I wanted to try out the other mode.
I found quests in the cities quickly lead to tons of slow loading screens.
16 hours in and Iām still in the area after the Fort we wake on.
Edit: pretty geared up already, nothing but enchanted/unique and finally leveled a weapon to fine lol.
Thanks for the answers guys! both Pillars always looked intriguing so I will definitely give them a try.
Yea this game is crazy good. Played all day and barely noticed think I got 12 hrs in it already and have barely gotten far on the main quest.
This game REALLY makes tike fly
So I have been trying to clear a quest up on Dawnshore, to finish an item and have been running around checking every corner I can in every area.
Iām currently really surprised that thereās quite a bit of stuff I missed in the last 20 hours
What time does the game unlock for Game Pass peasants?
This game is just SO AMAZING. It is like a really good and polished version of Might and Magic Dark Messiah/Oblivion with a great story and great writing, great combat and magic.
I think obsidian have really nailed 1st person RPG combat so it feels like an RPG without resorting to turn based stuff, the action on combat is just fun as hell. The traversal and parkour is really unexpected as it make just general waling around and exploring very fun.
This is a welcome addition to the to the 1st party game lineup. It has all the great exploration of oblivion with amazing first person combat and some great modern game mechanics without holding your hand too much.
I think Iām going to turn off a lot of the GUI/HUD elements once I get better at the game as it will be more immersive.
Great work and hope we get more in this series.
10 AM PDT from what I searched
Avowed is 19% off on CD keys right now and while I did buy the early preview, Iām really having a ton of fun with this game. So Iām definitely going to buy it.
Almost 20 hours in, already on the third map, i donāt agree with some reviewers who said the game gets worse slowly, for me itās getting better, with this zone being the best so far, exploring is fun and iām getting better at it, this will be the zone where i get all the totems, believe.
Must say i really didnāt expect the game to be like this, i was in shock when i joined the first city after seeing how lifeless it is with many houses not being enterable and most NPCās being statues you canāt talk to, was funny to fight bandits in the middle of the city with all the guards and citizens standing still near us.
I thought iād leave the game after a few hours, but after understanding the kind of game it is, i started enjoying it, i would say itās an action game over a RPG if i had to choose only one, you are fighting most of the time, moving around is nice, climbing feels great (just like in Halo Infinite, love these animations on 1st person), doing parkour to find the totems is the best part of exploring, and combat is fast and dodging projectiles feels good too since you can see them coming.
A tip iād say, if you donāt know what class to go for, go for mage, i made an archer, you get to shoot faster with the levels and crit bigger, but there are almost no active skills for that class, all your damage comes from basic attacks for example, i heard similar for melee, while mage has a lot of skills, if you want variety, this one is the way to go, this said archer is still funny since iām perma dodging and shooting quickly, but i miss some damaging skill.
I donāt agree with people comparing it with Elder Scrolls, the magic of these games come from how realistic and alive the world is, also for exploring, atmosphere is superb, you can meet NPCās doing routines, who can help you, find INNās etc, exploration in this game is more about killing enemies and finding chests with materials to improve your gear.
It has more Enshrouded or Valheim vibes IMO, it definitely makes sense to me now when they said that Avowed was developed as a coop experience in itās early days, and honestly i think it could have worked.
Just posted some thoughts in another thread, before I realized this was probably the place for itā¦
I have only done the first quest in Fior(second area), before going back to Dawnshore after finding out what effects the item Iām currently looking to complete gives.
Edit: Thinking about, I should find out how well quick resume works in this game.
I like this so far. Itās very pretty and oddly busy, and whilst it isnāt going to break lots of new ground it feels good to play and I am keen to explore the world, my character abilities and the quests.
Also I really like the platforming. More of this please.
The platforming really is shockingly good. WAY better than I expected.
Shadowing Beyond is pretty broken, I decided to get it, to do the quest we were shown. But I have 2 rings and a perk that increase essense restoration through food to 60% combined, so currently Iām just stealth running around looting.
Because we can only drop out of it if we attack or run out if essence.
Anyone having screen tearing even with VRR activated?
I wouldnāt even notice it most of the time, but the game is getting an update right now.
I restarted the game and the console and the screen tearing disappeared
27+ hours into the game. Finally reached the second region. Completed Paradis 100% in regards to the check list that you can open on the map screen. Pretty certain I also cleared out the entire region of every enemy, chest, loot, food, resource and everything else in between. lol
Iām loving the combat/gameplay. Using a āfineā tier leveled Wand in my left hand and a āfineā unique Ice imbued one handed Axe in my right hand. Have a āfineā tier leveled Bow for my second load out slot. Wish there were more load out slots.
Story and characters have been good thus far but itās been the combat/gameplay/parkour/graphics/world/exploration/content that is making me want to keep playing the game and not want to even take breaks. Hehe.
Will start clearing out the second region tomorrow after I run some errands.
