AMD required 10 million units for an Xbox handheld its claimedm, Jez says it's not true

The last leak lile this that Kepler did was that Xbox Series had only 23 million to 29 million.

Claiming that those were the numbers of how many Xbox chips had been manufactured. That one didn’t die out until Welfare brought numbers from his own and another reputable source.

So, Kepler talking about hardware specs? Tune in as he does get that info correct from time to time.

Kepler talking about numbers for hardware or contract details? Don’t bother, the guy has nothing in his track record to even indicate he knows anything.

As for Xbox not doing their own Handheld? Imo, it’s to not become the only game in this growing sector.

I have been told by someone that would know that Kepler and MLiD “sometimes get good info, and have no idea how to understand it”

All of the Xbox haters are coming out of the woodworks at once it seems to try and pile on and enjoy the added visibility from the first rumour. I guess getting click sis more important than an ecosystem and the millions of people that have invested in it.

Funny we’ve had a video by Sarah and Lisa on the partnership along with renewed statements not even a day ago by this not being true, and people are taking random rumours as cash while everything being announced by the CEOs doesn’t count.

This hobby is getting more ridiculous by the day.

this would go against everything i know about how AMD handle its custom semiconductor business.

Doubt It

Looks like “Become an insider 101” is back on the menu.

Gonna need some corroborations on this one. So much bs floating around just to get clicks.

These semiconductor companies literally want more business, the SoCs AMD is designing for Xbox/PS use existing core technologies, they have separate units who’s sole purpose is to design custom configs.

AMD revenue FY 2024 -

  • datacentre -12 billion (MS, Meta, Oracle)
  • gaming - 3 billion (PS, Xbox, Radeon GPUs)

Microsoft is probably the top 1 customer for AMD, spending literal billions on CPUs, GPUs and AI accelerators every year, a much bigger and valuable partner than Sony but I’m supposed to believe AMD will say no to even 2-3 million chips lol.

I think Microsoft really needs to have something to show at the game awards to end the year with at least a hardware teaser of what’s to come. That would definitely shut up some people!

On top of that these chips are designed by AMD and manufactured by TSMC. Why would AMD care about the amount of chips or wafers? That would be TSMC or Samsung. This whole thing makes zero sense.

Isn’t 10 million more than the entire current PC handheld market?

Yes, which is mostly AMD chips. So this really makes no logical sense.

I doubt that will do. The pundits are pretty much set on their part of bringing down Xbox and they will lie and fabricate all sorts of nonsense to do it. I don’t know why anyone even listens to unofficial news.

Could be as simple as a trailer with some kind of timeline with all Xboxes all the way back to the OG Xbox, sprinkled with some game footage or sound as the generations pass, and you end on a year, like 2026 or 2027, with dark outlines of a handheld and a home console.

Or if they’re somewhat more ready than this, we could get another Power Your Dreams early hype trailer like last time. I thought that trailer and narrations were pretty dope back then. Plus VGAs being the most views of the year so it’s a good time to change the narrative and let people know you’ve got more coming!

On top of the 25th anniversary year, I think it’d be easy for them to have a banger year. Like they’ve had of their negative news this year, now just focus on the games and next gen and build some goodwill all year long with the celebration.

I did love the Power Your Dreams trailer - really believed the Series consoles were going to undo the One years, but Phil was right they lost the worst generation to lose as last gen everyone locked in their online friend networks, digital purchases and back catalogues so it was easier to just stick with what they knew

I mean a trailer for the next iteration of hardware would be amazing, but there’s no way Xbox gets a clean year with media. Negative news is inevitable. Microsoft doesn’t have the power in the market to avoid price increases and it’s impossible to please everyone especially when we’re talking gamers. They had and are having a great year this year. And that gets thrown out the door the moment reality hits with news that is super duper amazing. If they announce the ad game pass their then Xbox is dead or worse “ruining the industry”. If a game slips into 2027 Xbox is dead. If Xbox announces next Gen early then Xbox is dead because the Series generation was so bad they pulled the plug early. If Xbox doesn’t announce next generation at all then Xbox is dead and there’s no hardware. If Xbox does more OEMs then Xbox is dead. If Xbox releases another game on Playstation then Xbox is dead. If Xbox games on Playstation sell under 3 million copies on day one then Xbox is dead.

And the industry isn’t going to magically fix itself next year. I don’t think we’re done with layoffs or price increases or anything that the media loves to solely attack Xbox for despite every gaming company making these decisions.

And for another reason, people just seem angrier these days. I’m quick to blame social media, but whatever it is. The Xbox One generation was allowed to be failure and people didn’t act THIS hyperbolic over it. The series generation has been better in pretty much everyway but people are catastrophically more negative (to an irrational degree really).

It’s not just social media, but the whole traffic-based monetization model.

You got Angry Joe and all this guys ranting desperately using Xbox as a steppingstone for views. I just think Xbox has done a lot already and it didn’t change the pundits. Xbox has released more hardware and partnered a lot, this was a non-issue, I think rather the focus should be on exposing these frauds. Xbox taking more of the Nintendo approach would be nice.
