Wait, really ? I love Undertale. Story and soundtrack are really good. Gameplay was interesting. Played it 3 times to get all endings.

Well, Omori is different than Undertale. More serious and more depressing.

Yeah, that’s the general consensus, but I had to force myself to finish it the first time (and then went through again with a guide to get all the achievements). I thought the story was pretty terrible, the characters were all annoying, and I don’t remember anything about the soundtrack, which doesn’t mean that it was bad, but it definitely wasn’t memorable (though, to be fair, I rarely think soundtracks in any games are memorable, even in my absolute favorite games of all time).

Not trying to convince anyone else to dislike Undertale, but I can confidently say it’s one of my least favorite games ever.

Undertale was sooooo cool, i fired up my old C64 environment and made a short sprite demo with Frisk.

I could definitely tell that this was a game originally made for VR, but I think they did a decent job of porting it over without it feeling awkward to play on a TV. I liked the story and the overall gameplay, though I thought the puzzles were either way too easy (I was able to complete the first four in the minimum number of moves on my first try) or way too hard (there’s one that you can skip if you don’t care about achievements and even following a guide I have no idea how the hell you’d ever know what you’re supposed to do to solve it). Overall I’d say it’s worth a playthrough due to the short length, but you’re also not missing a masterpiece if you decide to skip it.

I don’t think I’ve ever actually tried a Visual Novel game before and now I know that I don’t care for them

The story was actually decent (the dialog itself definitely left something to be desired in places, but the plot(s) as a whole were a nice spin on a classic story) but the gameplay was quite boring for me. If it weren’t an option to skip all of the text you’ve already seen on subsequent playthroughs I definitely never would have made it past the first playthrough. Likely the last Visual Novel I ever play unless I get a very strong recommendation from a friend that has never steered me wrong with game recommendations (and there are only one or two of those).

#MyYearOnXbox is now available (though it seems like sometimes it takes a few tries for results to show up likely due to servers getting hammered right now) for those that want it. I’ll be waiting until January 1 to post mine since I haven’t hit my goal yet for the year and I don’t want to look like a slacker

TrueAchievements isn’t letting me download a game card at the moment, but I got all 1000GS in the base game of Bear With Me: The Lost Robots. There was nothing amazing about this point and click game but I thought the humor was pretty decent, and I liked that it was in black and white and went with a more noir style that you don’t see too often in games. While nothing was amazing about the game everything fit together really nicely, which is definitely not always the case. Might go back and do the DLC (which is actually the older game(s)) later, but for now I’m still on my quest to hit 500k by the end of the year. Only 11,715 to go!

Note: It should be 11,695 to go but Halo 5 hates me and didn’t give me achievements for two of the three levels I finished last night. Add it to the pile of reasons that I hate Halo.

Edit: I’m an elite hacker so I was able to go into the page’s source code and figure out the link to get my game card for this one. Fear my awesome powers!

I didn’t particularly like this game, but finally got the 30 minute speedrun done. Jump on it now if you’re going to do it, leaving Game Pass 12/31.

Another Hidden Objects puzzle game, though I greatly appreciated that this one didn’t have terrible voice acting to move its story forward and instead just had (surprisingly emotional) animated cutscenes between certain levels to tell the story. I also found the puzzles to be easier to understand without a guide (or in many cases without even reading the instructions), though maybe I’m just getting better at these games.

A game that was surprisingly fun for being a Xitilion game, I actually wish that it was a little more fleshed out because I actually enjoyed going through this one. I definitely started it for the easy achievements, but I still enjoyed my time with it.

I was really disappointed with this game. I was excited to play through a Doctor Who game, but this one basically amounted to reading a text message conversation for 3 hours without much of anything I’d really call gameplay. The story was fine (not great by any means), but not much better than that actual visual novel I played a little bit ago, and that’s saying something.

4,935 to go this year.

7 years to buy and complete episode 2. Pretty sure this game is never going to be completed. Devs website is down and haven’t tweeted since 2018.

I literally just looked at this game today and debated about picking it up. I remember it being in a couple of the old ID@Xbox montages and was super pumped, but wanted to wait for the full drop.

Guess I might just have to live with Episodes 1&2😅
