Yakuza / Like A Dragon |OT| That's Rad!

Uh wow ok, forget what I said about rainbow pyroxene. VR is still the absolute king of making money in Lost Judgment. This is from my third run, medium course:

I’m on chapter THREE. Unless there’s a moneysink like Quickstarter, this might just carry me all the way through the game.

Easiest way to get play passes? I’ve only done 2 matches of paradise VR because it’s so hard to get any play passes.

I’ve managed to grab a few from returning dropped items to people. Might be worth it to grab the free vouchers though. I’ve gotten 4 of the 6 from doing side stuff, here are the locations if you’re interested:

  • Skate Park point exchange - 25,000 points (school stories)
  • Squirrel Hunter - squirrel inside Cafe Alps (side case)
  • Casino chip exchange - 10,000 chips (school stories)
  • Find the 7 Kappa Statues (side case)
  • Befriend the white cat near the homeless camp.
  • Gambling Hall point exchange - 10,000 points

Getting some seed money and save-scumming will help for 3 and 6 (I did blackjack and koi koi, not too bad if you have a vague idea of what you’re doing). 5 is easy-peasy, and 1 is also pretty simple if you do races, though I did have the DLC board that probably makes it trivial.

I just wanna say the Robotics Mini game is quite possibly the biggest pile of dog shit RGG has ever made. The fact someone thought this shit was any kind of fun and decided to hammer it for a side quest of an overall storyline like the school is absurd.

Why doesn’t every Yakuza game have the cabaret club mini game?

Something that was added just in 0 and made its way into Kiwami 1 (?) And 2 lol.

It was cool but didnt really need it in 6 or any of the others due to the story.

They should rip it out and make it a standalone mobile game lol

Freaking loving judgment so far. Has that realistic persona 4 and 5 vibe to it even though I’m still early in.

This game looks like it has so much to do as well.

I’m completely smitten with Like a Dragon and I’m only at chapter 4. It feels fairly linear so far, with only one side activity (can collecting) available so far and only a couple of side quests to do. Does the game open up more later? I feel like I’m barrelling from story beat to story beat and don’t want to miss out on stuff. I’m also curious to see if the RPG systems get any more complex. Like, will the job system actually become something you can change to affect gameplay, or is it a cute reference to JRPGs in general that’s more superficial than practical?

It will

Yes, it will open up. There are quite a few minigames and side quests you’ll get later on, and you’ll get new party members and skills. Also don’t worry about missing anything. You can continue playing after you’ve finished the game and wrap everything up. As for the job system, it does actually matter. Your strategy may change entirely based on what jobs you have selected.

I guess the controversy was bullshit ? I’m at chapter 6 and I don’t see the concern.

Like the woman lying about her assault is integral to the story, so it’s not something you can change. It’s part of the plot and it’s a pretty good twist exactly because you don’t expect the writers to go there. But it’s used in a way that it makes sense.

Yeah, I don’t see a problem either.

Besides, people lie about sexual assault in real life too, this has been observed several times. And it’s not like the game is saying that sexual assault isn’t a big deal, either.

Yeah, I expected a weird messaging, but no, it’s pretty well done, as sensitive the subject is.

The first Jugdgment or most of the Yakuza games have way more controversial/weird stuff in them I feel.

I haven’t got to chapter 6 yet so idk about this controversy but nothing will ever top the grossness of that one Haruka scene in Yakuza 4.

I didn’t get far into Y4. Are you talking about the scene with the guy that got out of jail ?

Must be, that was the low point of Y4.

Yup, that scene. It was probably the weirdest scene I’d ever seen in a game.
