Judgment’s story is standalone, besides taking place in the same area, Kamurocho.
I feel like it’s safe to say that Yakuza 5 has the best arcade in the series. The first thing i do whenever i get set free in a Yakuza game is check out the arcade.
That’s a relief. Looking forward to it when it comes to Xbox in…April! Jesus we are getting spoilt, not that I am complaining haha.
Just finished Yakuza 4, enjoyed having different combat styles (even if i didn’t like them all). Have pretty much avoided the mini games though. When does the good version of the host club minigame come back?
Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami 2 are the only games with that host club minigame unfortunately.
Well, that sucks lol. At least that means ill get through the remaining games quicker.
Finished Yakuza 3 earlier today.
Definitely see why its considered the black sheep of the series and I definitely would put it on the bottom of my list of Yakuza titles I’ve played so far, but I did really enjoy the story.
That chapter 2 boss fight was terrible though, not gonna lie. Everything else was fine. Nothing too much to write about when it comes to combat (much simpler). Performance is absolutely horrid if you end up opening an app/game or sometimes even just opening a notification. I feel this game suffered from the team having to learn the PS3 and it shows, but overall still enjoyed it.
So far, for me its:
-
Yakuza 0
-
Yakuza: Like a Dragon
-
Yakuza Kiwami 2
-
Yakuza Kiwami
-
Yakuza 3
Yakuza 5 has a chapter where your stuck in one inclosed area for like 3 hours LOLLL! They really went that far.
Yakuza 5 minigames are so addicting. Not since the Hostess clubs in 0 and Kiwami 2 have i been this addicted to Yakuza minigames.
I look forward to these then.
Haha funny because I just finished it right now
Here’s my thoughts:
I didn’t find the chapter 2 boss that bad. Chapter 3 was awful though, yet chapter 11 was surprisingly easy.
Chapter 8 boss was not fun to fight against at all. I just had to constantly throw chain punches at him, I barely got any hits in but at least I gave him little opportunity to strike. Definitely my least fav boss.
FBI guy I too hated, chapter 5 in particular was horrible because of all the other men around him.
Surprisingly the final boss wasn’t too difficult either but when he switched to the rush style moveset he did get pretty dangerous.
Chapter 6 boss was rather…weird yet hilarious. Towards the end mostly. I did have a lot of fun.
I did nearly all of the substories. The only ones I missed were the ones that involved playing sports and minigames. I also gave up on the dine and dash guy after two stories because it become very difficult. Also same for the guys in the Shichifuku parking lot, I did two substories of them and noped out afterwards.
Honestly I was not a fan of the battle chases in this game. I had to switch the difficulty to easy twice because of it, first time was running from the police and the second time was in the substory with Mikio and his dad chasing the union president. Only time I didn’t mind was chasing Mame the dog and Ayako. It seems it returns for 4 and 5? Hopefully they made that easier.
I also just started 4 today. Not much for an intro is it? Also lol I see Hamazaki in the intro. Can’t wait to finally meet Saejima, I didn’t really understand what happened to him and Majima when they showed that flashback in Zero.
That sucks. It’s my favourite minigame, it gets soooo addicting. I wish they bring it back for 8.
A real interesting article about Toshihiro Nagoshi, the creator of Yakuza. I recommend giving it a read.
You know a sequel to Binary Domain would be pretty nice, and a remaster for the first game. If not then it needs to be BC.
I wanted to ask btw, it seems in Yakuza 4 you can’t carry the same items between characters. Is this also the case for the Gion Bell and the Morning Glory Waistband? Hope not.
You can’t carry the same items between characters but some point towards the end of game you can swap items around between characters.
They say you should dress for the job you want.
Right, thanks. I guess for now Akiyama will be the one with the most money, profession aside of course lol. I imagine the same will be happening in Yakuza 5.
Yakuza 5 is so long but so so good. This feels like the “San Andreas” of the series. It has so much content it’s insane.
