  • +1 - Street Fighter 30th Ann Collection: Street Fighter II - I can’t remember when/where I first played SFII, but it was likely either at the Boardwalk or the community center on base… I had forgotten how slow the first version of SFII really was. Definitely the weakest entry in every sense.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022) +1

I played this game on Veteran for a challenge, and it turned out to be quite enjoyable. It has that popcorn summer movie vibe with a lot of variety in each level. The graphics are still impressive, as expected from Call of Duty. Managed to get all the achievements too.

A little end of the month clean up…

+0 Paw Patrol World

A short, easy kids game. I don’t really know why I played through it, just instinct when I saw it leaving Game Pass soon

+0 Tera

A run of the mill, F2P fantasy MMO. I particularly don’t like that fast travel is effectively locked behind a subscription, so I don’t recommend. A bunch of friends were playing through it, so I decided to join them.

+1 Caterpillar

A cute, short puzzle game. It’s fairly straightforward, but does make you think just enough.

+1 Who’s Your Daddy?

A weird, unstable game about playing a baby trying to kill themselves or a daddy trying to prevent that. A couple friends wanted to play it tonight, and we laughed the whole time!

-1 Two Point Museum

I saved up my monthly $10 MS reward gift cards this year to preorder this just before release. I really enjoyed the previous Two Point games, and I am a big fan of museums, so this game is a good fit for me.

+1 Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Much more focused and smaller scope than recent AC games with a setting and story I quite enjoyed. Some very good music and the ability to play most of the game stealthily. I wasn’t sure I needed more backstory for Basim but it was done pretty well.

-1 Gori Cuddly Carnage

I have followed this game for years after I played a demo of it. It randomly showed up on sale this week.

-1 Steamworld Heist II

I thought this would end up on game pass like the other Steamworld games that I enjoyed. But no matter, it’s on sale this week as well!

My progress has almost ground to a halt and I’m thinking I may take a few weeks/months off from gaming whilst getting house ready to sell as well as trying to get back into some healthy habits and exercise. Just got Netflix back in for first time in years and finding more inclined to watch stuff on that and catch up on shows than play a game. Be nice to come back to games with all this sorted and refreshed or at least when the ground work is done.

Still looking forward to seeing peoples completions and their thoughts.

+1 Disney’s Bolt (360)
A fairly mediocre movie tie-in action platformer. It’s fine and thankfully short enough. But I wouldn’t exactly recommend picking it up these days.

+0 Dredge (PS+)
The first couple of hours are a bit slow (with a slow boat,) but it picks up the pace and certainly deserves the praise it’s gotten. I was debating whether to play the base game on PS+ or wait for a sale on the complete edition. In the end I feel like the base game is just the right length and I’m happy to skip the DLC (which seems to be mostly “more of the same.”)

I mean, I have beaten a lot of games this year, by my count ~30. But the rigamarole of which ones count and which ones dont just makes me go…ehhhh, not worth it. Espcecially since a lot of them are retro titles that I own carts of, but played on NSO or on my steam deck, and I dont know for sure if I beat some when I was younger or not.

If you own it, it counts. We’ve allowed unbeaten carts played on emulation devices; all that matters is that you own it in some form, haven’t beaten it, and haven’t taken credit for it previously.

  • +1 - Pokémon Legends: Arceus - I absolutely loved this game - my personal favorite of all the 3D Switch Pokémon games. The music was absolutely stellar for a change, the story didn’t outstay its welcome, and the massive shift in gameplay was such a refresher after playing the series for almost 30 years. Also, you can clearly see that MonolithSoft was brought in for help with the world and systems, similar to BotW/TotK. The only real complaint I had was its visuals/performance, but that’s one to be levied against all of Game Freak’s output on the Switch (ironically BDSP looks and performs the best, despite how much it’s hated by the zeitgeist); recommend playing on handheld so it’s not stretched out with its native low resolution.
