For the people wondering what the Disney addition to Xbox E3 will be… I’ll guess… Pirates of the Carribean crossover event in Sea of Thieves.
Very good guess, I would say.
Ooooo… Now that is a good shout.
Didn’t Jeff also say that Typhoon will have the word ‘contraband’ in the title?
This is all from my foggy memory, so may be remembering wrongly and I hadn’t gone through a rewatch yet. Can anyone clarify the details?
Early in episode 60 it was hinted there may be something keeping Halo from releasing in November. It sounded like it would be would be discussed more later, like in the podcast itself. What were the details? Was it like a contractual obligation for a 3rd party partnership?
You mean Halo being delayed or being released earlier ?
It didn’t sound like anything was due to amount of work left to be done causing a delay. I think this was before minute 40 in the podcast, but don’t have exact timestamps now. I only have foggy memory. I don’t think it was clarified later on in the episode 60. Maybe they meant they would come back to this later, not in this podcast but in a later podcast?
The words that my foggy memory is keying on, so could be wrong, were “like they’re keeping things clear”.
It was around 25 minutes in. They said they might have an idea about something going on behind the scenes, not related to the development of the game, that might make Halo stay in a certain place. I know it was Jeff Grubb speculating on that, as he said that he thinks we could still be in a situation where they release the multiplayer separately from the campaign, but the date he used for the campaign seems a bit far I think ( Holiday 2022 ).
So they didn’t go into additional details on those thoughts afterwards?
I don’t think so. Maybe @Shpeshal_Nick could clarify a bit there.
If nothing else, it’s something we can speculate on.
Have multiple thoughts about it.
- Marketing contract for actual physical toys
- Marketing contract for cross-promotion of food and Halo game (Doritos, Mt Dew, McDonald’s, etc)
- Contract with big 3rd party multiplayer game like BF6, they get November and MS gets GamePass day 1 provided Halo Infinite stays out of November
- Slimey contract of Deathloop or Ghostwire Tokyo preventing release competition for same month of release.
Number 3 would check in, but I don’t think the campaign is gonna get delayed another year.
This came to my mind as well when they said it is nothing to do with the development of the game.
Maybe it is the best for everybody that way, giving even more time to Infinite while assuring EA they won’t have competition.
But the campaign has more or less been finalized since last summer. I can’t see yet another year needed on polishing.
Me neither, but that was speculation on his part.
Where are you getting delay another year from? I would assumr they just choose a different month.
From around 23 minutes in the Live podcast, granted it was speculation when he said Holiday 2022 for the campaign.
Oh, must’ve missed that part.
Oh number 3 is rather likely. I was wondering about that too, it was an interesting thing which was kinda left hanging.
