XboxEra Community Hangout |OT5| Season of the Infinite.. Arguments

Huh, who would have thought Kotaku would pack their list full of Xbox Game Studios titles after last years headlines.

They’re also fucking sith lords when it comes to litigation.

Maybe Xbox joining Nintendo on cracking down on Emulation was the Xbox + Nintendo collab that was teased!

God forgive me but there isnt an rpg as immersive as Skyrim. I could just walk around for hours.

Idk, Playing Witcher 3 was like having Criss Angel from MindFreak put me in a trance

This. I’m shocked the emulation has lasted for the 14 months that the consoles have been out. If anything, I was expecting Microsoft to shut this down much sooner.

The panel that Sony is using is actually a Samsung made one. The QD-OLED’s are supposed to be better then standard OLED’s but the production has been pretty rocky. I’m expecting them to be a decent chunk more expensive then the equivalent OLED TV but I expect within a year or two costs will drop while very likely looking better and being brighter

Such an awesome documentary. I can’t believe only 100 people worked on Skyrim at Bethesda.

For the nth time, emulation is not illegal, distribution of roms is, I don’t see MS or any dev sharing their N64 rom library with the world through this dev mode, do you? Nintendo has literally gone to court on that and lost every single time. Which is why they resort to shutting down rom websites more aggressively cuz they can’t do Jack shit about emulation.

MS should reverse this decision.

Or don’t and lose the whole ā€œemulation beastā€ reputation their new consoles had gotten. But what I’m seeing is it affects more than just the emulation side, which is even more unfortunate. Oh well.

not cool

Its a payed feature and not only used for Retroarch. The main feature its used for is small indie game dev.

No breeding I’m good with. Same with the fucking annoying RNG IV spread bs. But no abilities and items? Wtf, really? So my Technician Scizor and Sniper Drapion or Assault Vest Goodra are just useless now? :pensive:

That’s gonna castrate a lot of strategy in the traditional battle system.

I wonder if there will even be a comp scene for this game now. Seems like they’re focusing more on the PvE front this time around with those realtime monster hunter like encounters? But even then, that was just reserved for the bosses.

I’m a bit more skeptical now. :face_with_monocle:

Edit:

@javycane

wait wait, apparently this shit might be fake, the source of the leak later posted about how he trolled the reposter or whatever.

Smh lmao, fuck it, I’ll just wait and see.

That would really suck for those using it as emulator. I was never going to put my console in dev mode and use it, especially not when you can use emulator via the browser too. Not something for me to go berserk about, but I hope MS reverses it for those using it.

You don’t even need dev mode to get Retroarch. I have it on mine and like I said before I did not buy dev mode. Killing dev mode to stop Retroarch is not exactly going to, well, stop it, lol.

Then there’s nothing to worry about?

nothing to worry about for emulation (to an extent), but as people have said, dev mode was for more than just that.

https://twitter.com/ZhugeEX/status/1478669347749048323 5% attacht rate for VR hardware and way less for software is not a lot and explains the missing enthusiasm from Xbox.

ā€œFuck them small indie devsā€

Yeah I just read up on it further. This is not good. But can’t they just use what all the other Indies use as well?

What I wonder is, why do this in the first place. It’s been available since the start of XSX/S?

Speaking of small indie devs, I just saw this. This game was a passion project from a small team (originally just two people, about 10 later during development) and they were only expecting 30k sales (also wasn’t even gonna be on Switch, only PC/PS4, till Nintendo noticed it and saw potential, and it ended up being most successful on there). It also released just when the new consoles were coming out and alongside all the big games coming out then. It’s a beautiful 2.5D action sidescroller (and also rice farming sim!). Now that Marvelous/XSeed has a bit of a relationship with Xbox again, Xbox should try to get this on Game Pass. I think it’d be a big hit on the program.

A dev kit? Yeah, costs money and we have a chip shortage, so you have to wait probably.

But i just saw Microsofts message for disabling the dev account from someone. If you are a real indie dev with a presence in the shop you are probably not affected. Lets see how this unfolds.
