Does anybody expect this windows store shakeup to do anything? Like Epic has been trying for like 2-3 years and Steam barely flinched.
Exactly. And I think Grubbâs review was trying to tell me exactly how the game felt playing. I appreciate that.
And how do you rate games like the next Horizon and God of War when you gave a 9 to Returnal ? I donât know. Scores seems pointless at this point.
May like I been repeating for like 2 months here. So this is one of our May games for game pass then.
Have to wait and see what the experience ends up being like. Letâs assume they do sort out all the current issues then I do expect it to increase Game Pass subscriptions significantly, which is probably a big reason for the changes in my opinion.
Epic has actually shown that people will go to the store what with their free games and exclusives. Their problem is that people will default to Steam unless you keep offering them a reason to come, so it is a constant money sink for them atm. In Microsoftâs favour they have Game Pass, so it is a potential massive convenience factor for PC gamers that may entice them.
Iâve felt this way for a long time and itâs one the main reasons I no longer bother with review scores and instead just read the actual review.
I will say, for me, every game should be scored simply on the merits of that game. Others games really shouldnât have any impact. Horizon and God of War shouldnât be getting higher review scores simply because they are bigger, more high profile games. I know thatâs not the reality we live in, but a man can dream.
I habye been told Exclusives sells Consoles.
Exclusive â Console
This fall we will see Free to Play Multiplayer Sells a Game which Sells a Gamepass which then Sells Console
FTP â Game â Gamepass â Console
The attachment rate Halo Infinte multiplayer gonna bring to Gamepass and Xbox console will be monumental.
This news has more to do with Gamepass than trying to take on Steam. People are low-balling the significance of that blogpost.
Yup. It makes bringing games to Gamepass PC easy.
With all of these leaks flooding in, Iâm more confident than ever that we should be putting quotes around âleakâ because it really seems that grassroots hype is a big part of the Xbox marketing strategy this generation, thus far at least.
Slightly off topic
Apple revenue 89bn, profits 23 bn
MS revenue 41bn, profits 15bn
The profit margin that MS has is staggering.
I donât think MS needs to compete with Steam in the way people are thinking. All MS needs to do is have a seamless PC+Xbox+Cloud ecosystem. Now you may not be able to play every single game on every platform, but just having one account where your available games automatically show up (with cross saves, shared DLC, etcâŚ) wherever you are playing will be cool. Lets say Steam is for people who play on PC only, Switch for people who play at home and on the go, Playstation for at home console, Andriod/IOS for phones, then finally you can have Xbox for people that game in one, two, or more of those places. If this is the case you donât need the library of Steam or mobile, and you donât need exclusives like PS or Nintendo, Xbox is selling (your games playable anywhere).
Itâs like theyâre pulling profits out of thin air âŚ
As always, the margins are in services rather than hardware and this is from a company who probably has some of the best margins in the business when it comes to hardware. That revenue though is staggering from Apple.
Apple main revenue is from iphone and app store like 70% from these two alone
