I guarantee you the next Xbox and its handheld form will be custom silicon and a custom OS. The Xbox OS is already based on Windows. Hardware will still be AMD, but not off the shelf parts.
Unless you meant the form factor. Which yea…there isnt a lot of wiggle room in that regard. It will be shaped much more like an xbox controller with a screen in the middle, and ideally a dock that allows it to connect to a display with increased performance, switch style.
You know what’s crazy? There is no real place to talk about Xbox anymore. This forum doesn’t have as much activity as it did before, I visited resetera after the Game Showcase for the first time in a year or so and its all become political, hatred, and “f*ck microsoft cuz genocide”. Like its absolutely ridiculous that the gaming community has become radicalized that they just can’t enjoy the purity of games or announcements anymore.
This forum is basically two or three endless threads with a thousand posts about a thousand different topics. It’s basically like Discord, which is fine as a chatroom or whatever. But it’s awful for any ongoing discussion.
Just my opinion, obviously. The regulars (myself included) probably enjoy it. But anyone else coming in here and looking for a certain topic to discuss… good luck.
I’m already uninstalled bevause frankly the game has gotten worse to play for me since launch. It’s more likely on my end, but after 11 days of play time if my internet just isn’t cutting it.
Then all I can do is stop, which sucks because Halo 5 even with all the issues that were never fix feels like it has a better connection for me.
Maybe this is a cynical take on my part but I feel like the whole political thing is just a convenient excuse shitpost and air whatever grievances they have with xbox while avoiding the fanboy accusations and thats not saying that there aren’t good reasons or that one shouldn’t boycott brands they disagree with ( fuck you, Target) but Resetera being resetera , imma keep it a buck most of that shit is performative.
I only read the Xbox main thread there, so I didn’t notice what you said, but the amount of negativity from the Xbox community there, save a few users, is tiring.
But it actually makes me happy reading this.
Even if it’s just fanboys remembering the genocide only when it serves their console wars, which is really disgusting and pathetic, but I will never be sad seeing anyone highlighting Microsoft’s complicity in these daily horrors.
This is the primary reason why I stopped coming here. I was very happy when a long while ago there was talk of not having the Community Hangout thread anymore, but there were enough people complaining about that that it never happened.
I personally would prefer there to be very few overly broad topic threads. I just don’t see the point in replicating Discord in forum format. Especially when there is an Xboxera Discord now.
But I think it’s reasonably clear I’m in the minority on that.
In regards to bile filled negativity circlejerks online:
There is a reality that internet echo chambers don’t like to acknowledge. If there is a multinational company, large or small, they are 100% engaged in heinous, unethical, and deplorable shit. On a full spectrum of levels of severity and callousness. The only differentiating factor is whether you know about it or not.
When it comes to light, it should be admonished accordingly, and your further use of that company’s products is entirely up to you. Strictly for your own piece of mind. However, reality is that whatever organization’s products you choose to use instead likely isn’t any better, you just want to go back to not knowing. Indifference to human suffering is a pillar of capitalism.
In regards to Community threads:
I only come in here because that is usually the only place that people are posting. I would be fine with them going away.
The Youtuber I followed thought it was B+ and the only key missing was the big titles update, but the games, the pacing, the presentation, and the theme (Play Anywhere) hit the mark. Majority I have seen is at least positive.
It’s easily the best showcase of the SGF (Non-E3) week. The question is really, was it the best one of Xbox Showcases? It’s not, but it didn’t need to be. What I liked is the theme of Play Anywhere was strongly benefited by the amount of titles coming soon, including first party titles that is hard to believe that there are seven more coming. When it comes down to it, ending Call of Duty with that theme in mind is actually smart. I understand “one more game” is a crucial sacred closer to many, but it will always be a preferable choice. You recap all closer and not only this game got the most out of the three, but it also did stronger numbers than last iteration. Message received.
While I like to see the key titles like Fable and E-Day on the show, I was happy to see Clockwork Revolution get the shine as it was the first time to dive in and it looks very promising. Aside from that, Xbox played it “safe” by including largely only this year’s first party titles. If you’re hungry for the future, that’s where your disappointment lies in. What helped a lot is Xbox has already proven to have so many titles before and after this shows. If they were say like Xbox One era after Halo 5, then that would be concerning. Even so, seven titles left for this year is crazy.
In short, great showcase. Not the best and that’s okay. If anything, it helped to be just pretty good. It will only make the next year easier to top.
Im pretty sure Sony has closed more studios and fired more people over the last two years than MS did post Bethesda/Activision, but its okay, because Sony.
Thats just the kind of merciless efficiency needed to pump out AAA mega jams that shame the rest of the industry. Like… looks at release calendar Ghosts of Yotei and … glances at calendar again …Thats it. Ghosts of Yotei.
