The fact that we can effectively prove that’s the case (still waiting on those “Sony first party in trouble” articles after three years of abysmal support - all of which produced less games than Xbox’s worst year), is the saddest thing about the reality we live in. Yet, we’ll still see gaslighters on all the usual sites and media outlets claiming “Xbox victim complex” or some other thought-ending cliche to cover for their gaslighting.
For fuck’s sake, millions are getting hammered by the policies of madmen and global economies are on the tilt, but fuck Xbox for producing a next gen console that allows for those with lower incomes to actually play games and enjoy life. I’m sorry, but I’ll never forgive the blatant elitism and classism in the media all so they can be the bullet shield for the likes of Sony and Nintendo. Accountability matters.
Looks like one got leaked for today’s show. It’s an announced title and supposedly getting shadow dropped. I won’t say it here but I should start taking precaution.
Honestly I only really get excited about the Xbox showcase each year now (plus the smaller shows, but this one most of all), and maybe a publisher one if a particular game is coming (Ubisoft for AC games for example).
Think it really helps that a) they produce a lot of RPGs and other genres I love and b) I know I’ll be able to play almost everything on Game Pass (except maybe the odd 3rd party) so even if it’s not something I’d usually like I can give it a try.
That and they keep the talking to a minimum - for the big “E3” moment I want a decent pace with little filler so if I’m not interested in one thing it’s only a short while to the next.
Saying that, last year’s was so good I struggled to find time to grab a snack - normally there’s a DLC or something I don’t care about I can dip out for a sec!
Whereas the Keighley shows I find are slow, way too much talking, biased to PlayStation or Keighley’s friends and often have nowhere near the same level of surprise despite Keighley hyping them to an insane degree…
Two years ago, SGF was actually decent or at least that’s how I remember with new PoP to start and ended with FF7R2. I think the pacing was still bad, but I think in content, it was fine. Last year was rough and it was basically him grabbing whatever he can that wasn’t taken. So far, this year have Mouse P.I., The First Descendants, one that was leaked, potential RE9 being the surprise despite too many leakers are throwing their house away, and others that haven’t been said by others, unless I missed them.
We’ll see what we get today. I think it will be fine; as long as the pacing is good.
I think Avowed is a pretty good game, it has really good first person combat(hold down on the right stick for 3rd person), an interesting and imo really good story in Obsidians own world that doesn’t require too much background(checkout the lore videos on Obsidians channel).
Jez said he got couple of embargoes stuff that happened this week but cannot say. However, it will be lifted in the coming days. I think Xbox got to them (WinC) and share something. Game, hardware, either way, something is coming. He didn’t hype it or overhype it. It must be tight shut.
Jez said he know some premieres from SGF that are unexpected, not to confuse with massive surprise, and some is connected to the embargoes he talked about earlier. He can only predict what could be there. He does agree that Geoff’s show got more aggressive on third party showings, especially if RE9 does happen.
I hope Geoff took criticism from last year to the heart. I don’t want people crying for Xbox to save gaming (again). He has a shot to do better than last year.
