You just read it, it’s new.
Just watched this and I find this a very interesting video and I definitely relate to it too.
Of course you can’t be walking through these gigantic game worlds constantly, but taking the time out for it now and then is amazing. Especially in a Rockstar game world, or Elden Ring, Witcher 3 etc . The part where in the video he rushes into the dungeon in Elden Ring vs walking into it, taking it in really shows the difference.
A lot of this reminds me of gameplay reveals/demos during shows too, they quite often walk and look at stuff and my friends would always say “sure, but this isn’t how you play the game.” the thing is, you can though and at times should.
That’s not really a thing. Typically developers will develop in the highest quality and then scale down. The Series S “problem” is more artistic vision and wanting the game to look and feel a certain way. Developers will be able work from the PS5 version no different than Xbox.
The main problem Sony will have and not Microsoft, is MS already has a better system for handling multiple versions of games. You can buy one game on your account and use it on PC, XBX, or XBS while your saves work on all. I assume they will have it working even better by the time a handheld is released, but you know MS sometimes screws up. Sony has some real work to do and I kind of feel like it will be a mess even years from now.
The problem with it is the walking in all those games you mentioned isn’t really interesting, I especially condemn Rockstar because they are going for that simulated walking feeling but it’s not really exciting to play, just impressive technically for the animation.
You know what game actually has good walking mechanics? Death Stranding it’s legitimately engaging and fun, I know it’s tied to the idea of the game itself but there’s still something to learn and apply from it to make walking fun, as it itself builds somewhat on MGS 5 which before DS probably had the best walking and overall movement in a AAA game.
Marvel Rivals sure is generating a lot of hype but I’m just not feeling it… The idea I’m very into but what I’m seeing doesn’t look like it plays well or will be remotely balanced. I’m going in with people regardless, kinda want some multiplayer action again after a long while of purely sp & co-op gameplay, so let’s hope it turns out good.
I forgot you can actually walk around in Flight Simulator now, damn. I have to install it for just that alone.
I personally have no problem with that in Rockstar titles such as GTA IV, V and RDR2. Not entirely sure what you mean with simulated feeling, but I’ve always had fun just walking around. The most recent of their games being RDR2, just walking around Valentine or Saint Denis, greeting (or insulting) people, watching their realistic behaviour and so on.
I have Death Stranding now but need to install it first, hell, I need to get back to gaming, been on a break for three weeks now or so. In some games I found just walking a bit tricky because a slight push of the analog stick would get the character start jogging or running. I believe I noticed that with Starfield at launch when playing in third person.
Oh the world is pretty beautiful and incredibly dynamic to just exist in in-real time so that can be fun in itself, I know. What I mean is the literal act of walking as a mechanic, Rockstar in their latest games have a focus on animation-heavy realistic playable characters, I assume they intend to make walking engaging with it, and while it looks incredible, it doesn’t really play in any interesting way and even frustrates in many situations. The extent of interactivity in it is constantly pressing A/X to go faster pretty much. I would actually love if they either let you control more smoothly (less realistically) or if they insist on the realism route then should make it interesting and engaging to walk the character.
Aaaah got it, yeah I’ve seen many complaints about that and I do get it. But I guess for Rockstar games I’m fine with it and it would probably annoy me in any other game, lol. Ever since IV they had this sluggish movement, there’s weight to the movement but I genuinely love that especially in RDR2. It’s the one game where I “accept” that you have to get off your horse, press a button, watch the animation of picking a plant or skinning an animal and not being able to skip that. In that game it just would feel strange if Arthur picks a plant without animation.
Ideally they provide options in VI, for those that are fine with tapping A have that available but also one where you don’t have to do that. The more options the better. Judging on the huge leak two years ago or so the movement seems smoother or maybe that’s just me.
Ya it’s really annoying on PlayStation when you have to pick a version or that saves don’t work between them. Nice with Xbox no matter what I play or or where my save is there and I just hit A

Abandon all hopes!
I watch videos (and movies) while gaming (listening in mostly), it could be about equal, I don’t watch a lot of live streams though and even then, while gaming.
How many hours talking shit about games on social media?
But on a real note, there was a time where I only watched videos on games and argued about them online, rarely if ever played them, that was late in the ps360 gen when there was a similar wave of “gaming sucks now”. If I had to guess, most people we see online arguing on socials and on YouTube are like that, burnt out on games and want to drag everyone with them
Literally 0 for me. I play the fucking things, I don’t give a flying fuck about which crossover is on, which influencer is saying what, which pixel counting outcome is SHOCKING and A DEADLY BLOW to whichever megacorp.
Am I out of touch? No, it’s the kids etc etc etc
Yup. Was gonna post something similar. I have absolutely no idea why anyone would want to watch someone else play a game. The concept is so bizarre to me, I just… don’t get it.
But apparently watching people do things you can just as easily do yourself is a thing now. I understand it when it’s elite people doing things better than you yourself ever could, be that e-sports or regular sports, or artists drawing, or whatever. I see the attraction in watching talented people be talented. But Joe Schmo playing a game? Or eating a burger? Or watching a video?
No shade. Just complete befuddlement.
I mean some people are funny and some are insightful. Though I assume you mean popular streamers here which yeah I also don’t understand especially when the majority of them are neither funny, insightful, nor particularly good at games lol
All I’m hearing is some don’t watch Xboxera streams./s
But one reason people watched others stream games before and still do now, is to get a feel for a game and if it would be one they would want to play. Specially from people who they find have similar taste to them when it comes to game genres, there are definitely some games I wouldn’t have tried or heard of if I didn’t see someone playing it. Like Among Us, the game looked interesting to me and I would never even know what it was if it wasn’t for people I follow on youtube playing it. After playing Among Us though, I quickly found that the game itself isn’t for me, it was the people playing it that made it seemed entertaining.
