I still think TGA should be early next year to actually have all games participated. It will be hilarious if Indiana Jones and Flight Simulator goes beyond the level to be worthy of nomination.
They need to start doing some quality control. Once again, someone accidentally mislabeled the āBest PlayStation gameā category as āBest overall gameā. Crazy mixup huh! And it happens every year!
Lol Iām not sure an Xbox published game can ever be worthy of nomination even if it were the best game ever made, ever- if it did happen Iād take it as proof weād jumped back onto the Sacred Timeline and things were going to improve in the world lolā¦
(Also agreed on timescales - seems nuts Stalker 2 is a potential GotY but itās out in a few days so misses this year but no doubt will be considered too old for next year)
The cutoff is dumb. Halo Infinite missed out too. Going far back, a Smash game missed out as well.
Donāt worry, Geoff will always have a plausible reason why Halo Infinite wasnāt nominated, and Gears 5, and Forza Horizon 5, and Starfield, and Diablo IV, and Call of Duty Black Ops 6, and Indiana Jones, andā¦
Going with the Elden Ring expansion to win game of the year because I donāt see why Keighley would include it if it wasnāt going to win.
Either way, just give me the game trailers and release dates and I will be a happy gamer.
One is an Xbox first party IP, the other is not. If Forza Horizon 5 had been a Playstation exclusive, I have no doubt it would have been nominated.
Not nominating Hi-Fi Rush was the last straw. They will never, ever, no matter what, nominate an Xbox exclusive. Just donāt bother with them, watch the show for the ads.
Or donāt watch at all and help spur change
Itās purely in case there are surprises and cool live moments. Letās not kid ourselves, thereās no possible change as long as the same old guard are in charge
I donāt know why people bother doing this. As soon as they show the trailer, itāll be up on Youtube and elsewhere. Why would you subject yourself to 4 hours of shit for that?
ā¦
I didnāt see that when I posted, so take that Mr. Snarky!
Also as a side note, I still donāt think itās worth it. But thatās me. Having to sit through 4 hours of Geoff Keighley is not worth a few potential surprises that I can just read about and see later.
When you put them like that together (Ori 2 is missing!) manā¦a lot of excuses/plausible reasons huh?
The most hilarious thing I saw on this list is having Wu Kong & Astrobot nominated for best Art Direction and not Hellblade 2ā¦how the f*** Hellblade 2 isnāt in there? like wat?
Also I love Fromsoft games and I think that their expansions are top-tier stuff but they couldāve put Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown or Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth in Erdtreeās place, both games were amazing and deserve the spotlight IMO. Hinterberg deserved a spot in the best debut indie category too, that team punched way above their weight with that (awesome) game.
edit: @Freed How could I forget Hi-Fi Rush? yeah they will probably never nominate an Xbox game indeed. lol
Yes, HFR literally has all the boxes checked to be nominated. And nominating it wouldāve been great for Tango, maybe no shutdown (and then sold) great. But it felt like the media would just not like to admit they love an Xbox game. This is easily noticable if you pay the slightest of attention, they say Xbox hasnāt made good games, but there are a bunch of Xbox games that they actually liked, but they donāt count, not AAA, not this and not that, etc.
So yeah, Shadow of the Erdtree looks to have the better chance of winning. Of course Iām not watching as usual, maybe with XboxEra watch along, but I hope to see some announcements trailers of games I want to play on the Xbox YouTube channel.
Iād make a bet right now that The Outer Worlds 2 wonāt be nominated, even though TOW1 was, and that OD will be the first Kojima game not to get nominated. Thereās no pattern though.
OD will probably make Keighleyās head explode.
Be nice to Xbox?! Never!
But itād mean being nasty to Kojima, his god in human formā¦
It hasnāt been lost on me how Obsidian and Bethesda went from being consistently one of the most celebrated RPG studios to then questioning the people who like them and are hyped for them after they joined the green platformā¦
March 9, 2021: The day millions of people suddenly decided that they never actually liked Skyrim.
