It’s the least FF game I’ve played in years; legit think 13 runs circles around it despite what the zeitgeist likes to say.

FF 16 got a big boost for its platform exclusivity, we all know it

12 was the last good one anyway, series been on a mid streak since :philwins:

You’re talking to someone who loves XIII with a passion, so I’ll politely disagree

I fixed it for you.

I started the series with Final Fantasy VII Remake , then XVI and then Rebirth. For me, they’re a 9.0/10, 8.5/10 and 9.0/10. Enjoyed all three with Rebirth being my favorite.

XVI is a great action adventure game but should have been a new IP or a spin off because as a main line FF game, it’s sorely lacking the RPG elements. World is great, soundtrack is awesome and I love the story/characters as it’s similar to Game of Thrones which I loved. But gameplay/combat wise, it’s a 7.0/10 at best. It’s good, feels good to play but there’s no substance or depth to any of it. And side quests which is the norm for 90% of games nowadays was mediocre.

Hahaha. Sorry about that.

The only FF game I ever played was the original FF 7 on PS. Played it for maybe 15 minutes if that. Got off the train in the opening and walking up those stairs, got into four or five random battles in a span of just walking up those stairs. Turned off the game and gave it back to my friend who was letting me borrow it.

12 is indeed a masterpiece. Ivalice is a wonderful world and the game has one of the best FF soundtrack in recent times as well as a great battle system with the Gambits.

I haven’t tried 16 though yet nor Remake and won’t until they come to Xbox. I did however actually really enjoy 15 when it came out and still think it’s a great game to this day.

Nothing will ever come close to FF6 for me though, the FF that’s most deserving of a proper remake.

There are only a small amount of FF games that I didn’t enjoy, mainline or otherwise. VI is also my favorite but aside from Lightning Returns, I, and II, I genuinely get a massive amount of joy from all except for 16 from what I played. Just completely different structure, vibe, makeup, etc.

Also, as someone who loves the original VII, I still haven’t managed to beat Remake… so many changes, narratively and mechanically, that just don’t jive with me. It’s like they took the combat from XV and removed all of the strategy and timing elements to become a semi hack and slash with RPG elements (in its combat).

I really miss the active time battle FFs but unfortunately it seems like the changes were done to appeal to a newer generation of gamers and try to reach a bigger market. I thought FF12 was a nice middle ground which is why I really enjoyed that game. But since 15 it seems they’ve completely abandoned that type of gameplay.

Look who’s on my Xbox screen?! Kojima, you should’ve replaced him with Phil Spencer for the Xbox version, now I want a refund! :phil_unsure:

Picked up Alan wake 2 with the dlc for 32. Was surprised to see that game so low.

Just putting this out there to see if I’m the only one that feels this way:

I think the Xbox Dashboard should be more social.

During the 360 days, via the various dashboards, whenever I turned on my Xbox I felt like I was joining a community. With little to no inputs I knew how many of my friends were online and what they were playing.

During big releases I would get serious FOMO because I would see a ton of friends playing the latest release.

Every night I would see familiar names and get a decent idea of their gaming habits and tastes.

It was amplified with the avatar system, where I had a visual identity mapped to the name. But even prior to that time, just knowing that eight of my friends were online and what they were playing, in text form, was enough.

I mention this now because BO6 came out and I had no idea how many of my friends were playing it. Even though it’s free on Game Pass I didn’t feel compelled to go download it. I distinctly remember that wasn’t the case with MW2, where I had fun with the first one but was hesitant on shelling $70 for more of the same. But the peer pressure got to me and I had a ton of fun after buying it after seeing everyone play it for a whole week.

Now I realize that you can see this information by going through a bunch of menus. But it’s something I have to actively hunt for and not something that welcomes me as I boot up the console.

I’m not saying “bring back avatars”, but I think there are many possible solutions that could work where this information is on the dash.

One solution that I think would be consistent with the aesthetics is to have a social row seen when you scroll down. Could have a square version of the game art appended to their gamer icon above it.

I’m honestly surprised they just forgot about Avatars, especially with the wildly successful trend of selling skins for game characters. I would drop money to make my Avatar look like my favorite fictional character.

Yep I do think the UI needs a rethink - for example while they now show reward points it’s still a pain to go to the new dashboard for it - quickest way I’ve found is All Achievements in the Achievements part of the popup menu then across one.

Friends often show “Last Seen: Home” when I’d much rather know the last game they were playing (without going into their achievements list) and the “updates” put on someone’s profile for a game are weirdly sporadic - one of my friends has unlocked about 50 achievements in the last 3 months but there’s only 2 posts in the “Updates” tab.

It also means the “your friend unlocked X” bits on the dashboard are often not too up-to-date and it feels under utilised and a bit out-of-the-way.

There’s so much history within Xbox that it’d be nice to see more of it easily - there’s still achievements from 2008 on mine and my friends’ profiles from our GRAW and Halo 3 runs, right through to some achievements their kids are unlocking on their accounts now.

It’s a much better UI than PlayStation (where I often get lost thinking where the feck did they put something) but it feels like it’s grown and added so many features since the last major rework that they need to have a rethink and streamline it…

Adopting Discord meant they essentially offloaded their platform’s social aspect to it, and it’s a reaction to market demands to a degree. It’s definitely a contrast to what the Xbox team used to do at the social level, innovating and setting standards on the OG and 360, since the XB1 it’s been… just ok? like, functions and has the basics you want, just not that 360 feel of a real community space where plenty of friendships were founded. This is, as well, across the board in the industry – felt more so on Xbox because they used to lead the innovation there.

Another aspect to this is maybe people are just less social now, lol. I am for one, the way I use platforms is just to access games, and for that the Xbox dashboard is pretty good with 2-clicks away from almost everything. So with more people like me, and with more games themselves being the platform (Fortnite, Roblox, etc.) investment in the social aspects is probably a very low priority, unfortunately. I really do hope they do something for their next era, I think many people are really starting to yearn for it.

I’m seeing this picture going around from Capcom’s financials. From translation, It’s likely physical shipments. Capcom already said 50% of their sales are on PC.
