Ok, then I’ll just agree to disagree and end it here lol
I’m not mad though or anything, just different point of view on the matter.

I actually agree with you to an extent, especially with the Helldivers 2 example. I can look at a game that’s not for me and see if it’s good, bad or in the middle. For example, I have zero interest in Baldur’s Gate 3 but watching a few videos and researching the game, I can easily see that it’s probably the game of the generation up to this point because of what the game does especially with quests, choice and consequences and just so much stuff in the game and things that you can do is insane but I will never know this for a fact because I will never play the game because I don’t have any interest in doing so.
Being objective, I can look at the State of Play as a bad/mediocre showcase in general which coincidentally would also be what my actual rating would imply based on how I rate showcases for myself. Out of the 10 games on my list, only 1 is a guarantee (Astro Bot) while 2 others are 50/50 at best (Silent Hill 2 and Monster Hunter Wilds) so anywhere between a 10% and 30% rating which would be bad/mediocre. Point being is that even though im rating every showcase based on how many games I get out of it, the rating is in line with the general rating more times than not.
Looking at the Xbox Showcase, the majority would say that it was a great showcase and one of the best ever and easily the best this year and perhaps the best of the generation but there’s also a problem when looking at it in a general sense because if the other shows like State of Play and Summer Game Fest were bad to mediocre at best, the bar isn’t high whatsoever so even if you subtract half the games Microsoft showed off at the showcase, it could still be argued that t was a great showcase because again, the bar wasn’t exactly all that high to begin with.
My entire outlook when it comes to showcases is that while I can look at them objectively and grade them that way, I just don’t see the point or purpose because im the one watching it and using my time to do so, so if I get nothing out of a showcase, it then becomes a waste of my time but if I get one hell of a showcase, then it was not only worth my time but more importantly, I know that my time in the future will be spent on those games that I just watched trailers and whatnot of.
I don’t have a problem with any discourse around how I rate the showcase(s) because in all honesty, no one else’s opinion is going to change what the showcase was for me nor should it.
I rate the showcase based on how many games were shown, however, there are exclusions. With Xbox as the example, Sea of Thieves, Fallout 76, The Elder Scrolls Online and Warcraft were not included which is why it’s 16 games out of 26 instead of 16 out of 30. Reasons being is simple, all of them are last generation games or in regards to Warcraft, 20 years old plus it’s not on Xbox so why would I include a game I can’t play? I don’t include last generation games because last generation is dead to me and the games have to be new games that are either releasing for the first time or a full fledged remake ala Resident Evil 2 which is my standard for remakes or a reboot like God of War or the upcoming Fable.
I also exclude remasters like Alan Wake from a few years ago or PC ports of games I already played or VR games because either A) I can’t play them (VR), B) already played and completed them or C) didn’t care the first time and thus, won’t care the second time.
Reason why I include the other games such as the several indies that were shown during the Xbox showcase is because they’re new games and second, I can’t control what is shown. If I could, EVERY game would be for me. lmao
Anyway, hope this somewhat explains my reasoning and point of view better.
Hahahaha. So true but not this time.
No worries or problems here bud. It’s all good.
I hope the Xbox podcast tomorrow has new gameplay from Indiana Jones. Avowed sure had that, but unfortunately for MGS3 Remake not.
Developer Direct is going to be awesome next year.
We will hear from Playground Games, ID Tech and Compulsion games on Fable, Doom and SoM as they are slated for 2025.
Other two games could be from Gears, Forza Horizon, SoD 3 or maybe something unexpected like Indian Jones was in this year’s Dev Direct.
What other game could be there?
Imagine if we get a Forza Horizon next year it’ll be unveiled at the Showcase for release 3 to 5 months later - so it could be at a Direct or possibly just an Xbox Wire deep dive.
I suspect there’s a few other games in development we don’t yet know about too, particularly if some studios have had smaller teams making smaller-scale projects, or some of the many outside projects - I think there’s a few studios in MS we’re still not sure what they’re on isn’t there?
If there will be a next gen Xbox in 2026 they should keep the big guns for that time. At least Forza horizon and gears they should be launch titles.

No wonder it wasn’t a perfect show. I needed to know what was under their shoe…
TES VI is supposed to launch that year, no need to hold Forza & Gears back if it does.
TES VI will never launch in 2026, mark my words.
Gears E-Day, Perfect Dark, Forza Horizon 6, State of Decay 3, Everwild and Clockwork Revolution are much safer bets. Quite impressive, if only 3-4 of these games (all cross-gen) are included in the line-up for the new hardware.
And 2025 will be a really good year with at least Fable, Doom and South of Midnight, maybe Contraband and The Outer Worlds 2 too. Double Fine is also cooking.
Future is bright.
I’m still holding out hope that Forza Horizon is coming out this year and is going to announce at Gamescom. Very unlikely I’ll admit, but I can dream!
I think this showcase is the best one in xbox brand history. The quality editing also top notch. Welldone xbox. execution complete with release date. Btw where’s everwild
So there is someone besides me who wants Forza Horizon. I can sacrifice any game for the new Forza Horizon.
Zero chance of TES6 releasing in 2026, it will be 2028 at the earliest
They have so many games in dev that I don’t think they need to “hold” anything for it
If next gen is coming in 2026, they will have loads that year as well that they can launch the device with
The original Forza Horizon is what finally convinced me to buy an Xbox 360 instead of just playing on PC. Other stuff helped, but that one made my decision for me. Also, knowing that the creative design lead behind the original Forza Horizon is on Fable also just makes me super confident in that game.
I’m just using their projected date, which is the only information we have so far. Of course, it can slip, and quite likely to, but we’ll see. In any case, my point is that there’s no point in holding back any titles scheduled for 2025.
Not only are they all likely to be cross-gen anyway, but they have games like Blade likely to drop that year anyway, plus whatever 343 is cooking. Those 2 along with some “smaller” titles would be big enough for a console launch.
FH1 remains my favorite game in the series. Release that game again, 4K 60 fps, DLC included, with the Colorado map and all the original licensed music, and we’re talking game of the generation.
I’ve never bought the Rally DLC and it is now delisted… I’m crying.
The first Horizon was magical.
Was always hoping for a Forza Horizon Hub that merges all games together and then for them to keep expanding. I’d love to be able to quick travel across the world. Would probably take up more space than the Series S can handle but it’d be awesome!
Absolutely magical yes, and agreed it’s still just the best. Would love a re-release. And the 1000 club dlc did so much to make me try out more cars. Also for some reason I never finished that rally dlc, I need to fix that.
Yeah, I’d love something like that too.
Same! Argh!
