Xbox Games Showcase & Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Direct 2024 |OT| SPOILER FREE

I think SOW looked good but the movement could use some refinement still. It probably has at least a year of development time though.

SOW?

Perfect Dark was one of my favorites from the showcase. That Mirror’s Edge mobility really caught me by surprise and the gunplay looks awesome. Also, she’s joining Carrington if I understood well from the conversations in the trailer? Is this an origins story?

It’ll most likely work like the 2nd game, which has both.

This was pretty good, wasn’t it?

An enthusiastic 9-9.5 for me. In a meta sense I wished there was a big third party announcement like RE9 or Witcher 4 to close the show out alongside Gears E-Day, but the showcase easily belongs in the HOF.

Yeah it’s very strange. Hopefully we get something on this soon. Especially because first party wise it will be a bit quiet before the big ones arrive. Great opportunity to finally drop some more ABK games on the service.

While I don’t think any of these games does that, I SO AGREE on that notion in general. You don’t know how much hype killed when me or my brother tried to surprise me or them on the trailer. Seriously, stop that. Please. I don’t care if I’m an old man yelling at clouds, just no more.

The showcase was great! Perfect Dark and Fable were my highlights, South of Midnight confirms my expectation that Compulsion Games was an underrated acquisiton, and I liked some of the smaller games showcased, too. The lack of release dates on Avowed and Indiana Jones was disappointing, the latter still looks great though.

Think the release dates thing was similar last year too though, and the games did come - I imagine with such a stacked release window (as someone pointed out above, AC Shadows is coming close to Avowed’s pencilled in date) they probably need to shuffle stuff continuously.

Particularly to even avoid clashing with each other - for example last year Forza Motorsport was probably impacted a little by releasing only a few weeks or so after Starfield, so someone like me who’d have paid for early access and got stuck into it was only able to make a bit of time as I was really deep into Starfield

A rumor did the rounds that Banjo was finally getting announced and man, if that had been done it would have absolutely completed the show for me. It was great, but surprises wise there wasn’t much. You know, stuff that makes you jump off your couch because it took you by surprise 100%. Gears of War of course was, but I think that was the only one.

Wonder if I should just give up on hoping for a new BK.

Have any of the people that said or tease Blue Dragon said what the heck happened to it? In some ways it was such a random rumour that came out of nowhere it almost feels like something Microsoft let out intentionally to suss out potential internal sources of leaks  I was quite surprised we didn’t really get too much from Sega or Square outside of Life is Strange which is obviously a western series. I wonder if there’s a chance they’re saving a heavier presence from Square for TGS where we maybe get some announcements of ports that were again rumoured prior to the show?

I wonder if some of these rumoured ports and games were initially planned, and pulled out of the show to be at another event.
