Xbox Game Studios |OT8| Leaving The Drought Behind And Heading For Starfield

Maybe things has changed, but it doesn’t mean it takes longer.

Fargo talked about Game Pass and what it could mean for games in the future, and specifically mentioned episodics.

Also he was talking about Cobalt and the game after two years after the acquisition.

Brian Fargo in August 2020:

… at the same time, we have a product that we sort of hinted about that’s going to be coming out several years from now, and I’m already thinking about what comes out six years from now.

Yep, I didn’t mean it will be difficult for other engines and studios but that it will probably just take time.

2023 it is

I hope we can see inXile game at E3 if it’s really a 2023 target, new IPs expecially need time to be known by general public.

Anyway, looking at 2022 XGS releases, outside the rumoured small Obsidian game, what was the publishing project likely to be released? The strategy Oxide game?

As Dusk Falls too

big doubt Cobalt is 2023 personally.

Yeah, that game is always forgotten by most of us, lol. Honestly, I’m not a fan of Dontnod/QD/Telltale style of games, I get bored in 10m. XD

Until Jeff Grub refutes his own list I believe

“Proof maybe it’s not a good idea being bought by mega corp” kotaku

Next time he shows up on XboxEra podcast someone should ask him if it’s still valid.

If this actually happens 2023 could be fucking insane.

IMO

Definite Yes - Avowed, Contraband, Coalition’s non-Gears (if it’s indeed something smaller in scope)

definite no - Fable, Everwild, Cobalt.

Somewhat - Hellblade 2, Midnight, Perfect Dark

Yep, those are 9 games and at least 7 AAA (some doubt about Coalition small game and Compulsion), it’s unprecedented for any publisher.

@Ruthwik_Rao I believe Everwild could easily skip, the other are credible and long time coming things.

Personally

Hellblade 2 is possible to make in. Perfect Dark as well. Midnight I will have to see once it’s revealed to know what state it might be in.

But Fable I think is Q1 2024, Everwild mid 2024, Cobalt late 2024.

I think Hellblade has to be a lock for 2023. They just showed gameplay. Fable is either Fall 2023 or early 2024, Cobalt is farther along than people think.

We’ll see, HB2 has been revealed at TGA 2019 and showed gameplay (very rare for XGS so early) at TGA 2021, I think it’s the most likely of them all, there is more than CGI only. PD I think the CD push makes it possible (only for that, otherwise I’s say no), Fable is in the works since 2017, it’s probably the oldest project of all XGS in development. Midnight (Compulsion) and Cobalt (inXile) are unknown quantities until announcement, obviously Fargo&co are more tested.

Possible to skirt into 2023. The demo however was the vertical slice they spent most the 2021 R&Ding and building. I think anything before Q3 2023 is easily unlikely, but yeah could be the holiday game for all we know.

Fable again is Q1 2024 at the earliest.

Cobalt will be absolutely massive, and be the 2024 late game personally.
