Xbox Game Studios |OT8| Leaving The Drought Behind And Heading For Starfield

Seemed apropos to stoke the fires for the ongoing joke here… :troll:

The other IPs listed are genuine.

Glad to hear Commander Keen is genuine. I grew up playing that on an old 486 PC in DOS. Formative stuff for me, incredible memories.

Additional 'member-berries feelings has me now thinking about another title they could revive – THE LOST VIKINGS! At least according to Wiki it’s owned by Blizzard. They list it as being included as part of their Blizard Arcade Collection in 2021. I’ll have to check it out. Would still like to see it get a proper re-imagining.

I loved playing so many of those PC-based platforming games.

This was brought up by GlobeGamer on Reset, but the Senior Designer on Perfect Dark who was the Senior Designer on God of War left The Initiative.

The twist? He left for The Coalition.

I genuinely think Klob’s idea holds water. We’re seeing people leave Initiative for other Xbox studios too. It could be a talent ground of sorts.

Hopefully Perfect Dark is fine and going smoothly.

Senior Designer of The Initiative joins The Coalition. Worked on Perfect Dark for almost 3 years.

This is interesting, MS could and might be spending a fair bit to get some extra chips. It’s a smart move because if they can buy more chips than Sony, couple that with releasing some big hits this could really send Xbox into a huge upswing. Here in Australia we have had 2 massive drops of Series X consoles where EB games have had stock for over 3 hours more than once, so maybe the tweet could be right or MS could be just sending more consoles here.

Well, know that last year Sony bought more fabs. And considering that now basically there are bidding wars regarding those fabs between giants like car industry, Apple, Microsoft it will be tougher for Sony now get the capacity they want. Especially when the capacity itself defines the market share now. And Microsoft can make twice as much Series S console, basically filling the market with Series S consoles.

Though Sony seems to deliber more consoles to Japan recently.

I have believed there’s something different about the Initiative since 2020 or something. What I “initially” thought back then was that they have mostly design/director/leadership hires because they will facilitate game design and direction and get development help from across XGS studios on the full production, engine and technology stuff especially (sorta happened but with CD), as well as help/consult other XGS studios with their projects utilizing their design and direction experience, that way I think they can be a multi project studio. But I don’t know if that’s how they’ll work now, but they are definitely “different”.

I wonder what will be the next gen for The Initiative .

Well, the game will be released in 2023 and at E3 we will see the gameplay. Or maybe TGA.

A lot of top positions are leaving The Initiative. I think it’s safe to assume the game is finished.

At this point I believe this game is releasing soon, 2023 should be it, maybe a summer game?

Assuming that Avowed is Q1 (Jan-Feb-Mar), I won’t be surprised it is gonna be Q2 (Apr-May-Jun)

Could be both a gameplay/cinematic for E3 then gameplay like Hellblade 2 at TGA last year
