If the game ends up happening, it probably wouldn’t come out until 2027/2028 at the earliest. I am just going to pretend it doesn’t exist.
Well if it’s only being talked about in a wouldn’t this be cool way, I wouldn’t expect it for another 3-6 years depending on how big it is, maybe we’ll hear something about it in 2-3 years time.
Yeah, though I think they will update the engine eventually. It is just not worth it making new GaaS games these days - unless there are serious design issues - it is easier to update the existing ones.
Maybe with them going back to the drawing board with this it won’t be GaaS. But really, who the fuck knows anymore with this game.
Who cares? If studio wants to do that, let them do that.
The SoT 2 rumour has already been disproven.
That Hazzador dude has been having some real clown takes lately though.
There was an image someone posted recently of a motto thats in the Rare studio, something along the lines of letting players make stories with their friends i.e. multiplayer
People expecting Everwild to be some cool BOTW style single player experience are gonna be disappointed, it’s clearly not what they are interested in making anymore
I am kinda hoping its a Pokemon like game with coop to it haha
Elden Ring is getting praise for its minimalistic UI and emphasis on player exploration, and Sea of Thieves is one of the most succesful live service games because of those philosophies
Being a GaaS literally tells me nothing about a game of whether I will like it or not. Saying “I don’t like a certain game because it’s GaaS” is almost like saying “I don’t like a certain game because it’s $60”
Someone pointed out that Rare games a lot of the time had a big social aspect to them even before online, with split screen co-op, and that’s true but it was also along a single-player component.
With SoT they went fully MP-only, and we don’t know about Everwild. I think they should be inspired by their past and Xbox’s other core franchises and offer a single player component too, or design it in a way to be fully playable single player.
Yea, id love that as the whole multiplayer focused aspect doesn’t do much for me, at least when it’s basically mandatory in SoT
If they were able to improve that in Everwild while still also offering the same social aspect that SoT has they’d have something for everyone
It seems that some companies get to a point where philosophically they don’t want to make games anymore that include a great single player component. That sucks for those of us who only play solo, but that is just reality that we have to accept.
I strongly suspect Spyteam is not Roundhouse. Or at least did not start there.
Spyteam was first trademarked in July of 2018. Roundhouse joined in November 2019.
Well, nowadays co-op, multiplayer or games involving other players are extremely popular.
Always been popular, it’s just more profitable than ever now because of the additional MTX
They could always create single player games with a co-op component, like minecraft, that can be played together from beginning to end without having strangers in the world. Depending on what the game is about, it could lead to many interesting player created stories.
Yep, unfortunately. Because I’d love to see Rare taking a swing at a singleplayer game. After Kameo we haven’t seen those by them anymore. Even at some point made a Kinect game, and basically stayed a Kinect studio(is what I read) until they were able to make non Kinect games again. And then came SoT.
So clearly not singleplayer only by them anymore, but why not a game with optional (proper) singleplayer and co-op? Like Borderlands, Dying Light, Gears campaigns? But I’m just gonna assume Everwild will be co-op and I just hope it’ll be good.
Thankfully Xbox now jas plenty studios known for and focusing on singleplayer games with Obsidian, inXile, Ninja Theory, and so on.
