Do they have to “beat” any other games though? What does that even mean?
For me, and a lot of RPG fans, Starfield is soo much bigger than those PS adventure games but that is all subjective. However, something that is not subjective is that GoW and HFW will cost $140 and Starfield and Redfall will cost $0. Sales is not a thing anymore.
Why do they have to beat god of war and horizon forbidden west? What does beating them even look like or mean? Higher Metacritic? more sales? more players? more hours of engagement? more particles of grass rendered?
As a gamer I hope God of war and Horizon Forbidden West are great. I also hope Redfall and Starfield are great. The more great games we have to play is only a victory for us all.
Crystal Dynamics would be precisely the sort of acquisition that would match their approach, the gaps in their portfolio and the right opportunity at the right time.
A hugely talented studio with a great technical track record
Only one commercial dud in recent times, which according to gamers these days, makes them like the plague… Meaning they could be cheap.
Their owner seems to want rid
This deal indeed will act as a try out
They have shown they make the cinematic 3rd person games many feel are still under represented in the 1st party portfolio
The initiative leadership knows most of the staff and their approach to development.
I think it’s a given that, if they do a good job, MS will offer to acquire and clearly Square will bite their hand off.
This so much, no matter what Xbox does there will always be someone there to tell the world how it’s wrong and how they are bad for doing it. This is why MS put their games on PC because they know there are some people who wouldn’t be caught in the day of light owning a Xbox let alone having one of those filthy boxes in their kingdom, playing the game on PC 100% ok but if you even remotely suggest how about Xbox they will probably shiver and shake with anger as you start to say X, keyword being some people.
I know its not the thread, but if they’re available I wouldn’t be shocked if Eidos Montreal is available too. If they do get Eidos, I would look into putting them onto Shadowrun IP.
a new thief game or deus ex would be amazing , i read somewhere in 2014 or 2015 that the new thief game didnt turned out so great because square didnt have enough faith in the ip and didnt want to invest alot of money
under microsoft eidos can achieve alot of great things
damn , you reminded me of one of my favourite games , legacy of kain is one of the best games ive ever played , there was a rumour that a remake is in the works but i doubt it
Yea so what if the other side gets mad how do you think Xbox gamers feel about street fighter 5 and the marvel stuff I want MS to play that game beat sony at their own game
A couple acknowledged their mistake. Most will either dismiss as so called "damage control " or just try to pretend it never happened and not mention it again.
Obviously MS would want to own an IP as valuable as TR, but that exclusivity deal wasn’t about forming any kind of ownership (perceived or otherwise) over the IP. It was a moneyhat to make up for a gap in their portfolio.
All that deal reported worth should tell you is that MS evaluated exclusivity to be worth quite a lot - which, no shit, when the game preceding it sold 8.5m units by Apr 2015.
