Xbox Game Studios |OT6| But wait, there's MORE....studios

For me there is only Fable - Fable TLC and it did not have co-op.

I wonder if they would become grounded then

I do wonder how they will simplify UI to make it more console friendly.

Fable 2 and 3 had it, 2 is almost unanimously considered the peak of the series (it surely is critics and commercially wise).

LOL

It does have FPS Boost; it’s just not going to retain the 4K or some of the other One X enhancements. It still definitely looks better than it does on the Series S; have both and have several comparison shots saved that illustrate it’s not a 1:1 just because some of the One X enhancements are dropped. Given its resurgence though, I wouldn’t be surprised if we did receive an Optimized for Series X|S patch down the line.

Woah now, I genuinely enjoy a lot of 76 and think it’s filled in some of the lore holes that other BGS Fallouts often overlook…. That said, I don’t know if I would consider it to be better than 4 (New Vegas is obviously the best modern Fallout). There are a number of things that 4 does better than 76, but I would say that since Wastelanders and the subsequent BoS expansions, that gap has lessened significantly.

Just as a reminder, it was a year and 4 months for Wastelanders to come out; sure it’s still a long time, but if we’re going to round it’s a lot closer to a year than it is 2. Wastelanders fixed the major complaints about the lack of NPCs, general questlines, and more, but the game was definitely playable within six months of release. I’m not making excuses, I’m being true to reality for the sake of mitigating vitriol that often follows: words, and the specific choices/usages of them, matter.

Its better than fallout 3? What are you smoking. No I need to know.

Fable 3 killed the series.

You can say that for 95 percent of games

Not because of coop, anyway it was the bad Kinect game which killed it, 3 is still an ok game, it was not a disaster (it also got a ~80 when that kind of scores were more difficult to get). Legends was the nail in the coffin, it’s really great MS decided to revive it, 9/10 killed series are dead forever, you only need to see the last ten years.

Fable 2 considered a peak but I never liked its tanky controls. I think Fable 1 controls were better. For me Fable 1 was literally a fairy tale, it had that mystic atmosphere.

Well1 yeah ms are to blame. Ms became nintendo with trying to force shitty gimmicks in their games. Luckily they left their shooters alone.

But Fable should have had at least 2 more mainline games by now.

Yep, the “mainline” games we didn’t get were “replaced” by The Journey (the Kinect one) and Legends (cancelled), they buried the series with these two titles, every series has its lows (Uncharted 3 was as average as Fable 3 for example), but when you make several consecutive bad calls, it’s over. It’s unfortunate because Fable was the big rpg Xbox series and during 8th gen we sufferred greatly because no Xbox rpg exclusive was made, considering also the cancellation of Scalebound. Phil knew it and now we have a huge rpg staple, they revived even Fable, the only piece missing is a jrpg.

Yes, it’s much better than Fallout 3. Fallout 3 had a ton of problems.

But in that game we also had some crazy optional choices, like Megaton. God I loved that.

Stop with the historical revisionism. Fable 3 still sold over 5 million copies; it wasn’t 3 that killed the series but the horrible Fable: The Journey and (some people won’t like this but it’s true) Fable Legends.

On that we agree, though 3 has aged better than I think people give it credit for, it’s still objectively the worst BGS Fallout from a Fallout series perspective, and even from the team’s own output later on.

I think people say that 3 is the best RPG of the BGS Fallouts, but not exactly the best “playing” game, ie. it’s an open world game without sprint. In terms of your choices mattering and having an impact on the world, I think 3 and NV (which was made by Obsidian, so it “doesn’t count”) are considered better. I suppose it just depends on which Youtuber video essay one agrees with.

Back on topic, I know people worry that the Fallout IP will languish this generation, as it seems like a new entry is unlikely from what we know of current projects in production. As I’ve suggested before, perhaps BGS Austin could lead a Fallout 5 (ideally without multiplayer? hard to say) or, wildcard suggestion, the Avowed team at Obsidian could make a new Fallout once they’ve wrapped Avowed?

I don’t need a YouTube essay to make my mind up, I’m an OG Fallout fan and I’d bet a year’s salary that you won’t find another OG Fallout fan that thinks 3 is the best modern Fallout. It’s why I specified as such in bold. Hell, even from a sales perspective Fallout 4 sold considerably better, so it clearly resonated more with players; if anything, I’d argue that for people who’ve never played Fallout before 3 came out, it’s simply their favorite because they have no prior benchmark/experience to judge it from.

Fallout 3 is my first Fallout and my favorite by a mile over NV and 4.

Im starting to think lately about putting 76 above 4 but I think all four games are great.

Fable: The Journey didn’t kill the Fable franchise. How? Nobody played it. Fable Legends on the other hand killed the whole studio
