Thats fair, honestly I cant really tell what comes out when already because xbox has so many games in the works that they dont really need to rush their studios to get stuff out, I’m fairly sure the xbox team has made an approximate roadmap for like the next 5 years.
If that one is canon we might not see Marcus either anymore. Well, not necessarily. He could still decide to keep fighting alongside the others. I hope so because for me Gears of War IS Marcus.
As soon as he made his appearance in 4 I said hell yeah, here we go. He’s just so awesome.
I doubt it happens but I would love for gears to completely create 2 story lines based off of that decision. Let them be completely different also. They could both potentially end with the same kind of ending so any future storyline could easily be continued. But I would love for there to be 2 storyline based off of your decision in 5.
100% agree with your first sentence, 100% disagree with your second. It didn’t have to be a main line game, and the tongue in cheek humor was a nice breath of fresh air. Had more been done with it, it actually could have lead to being a type of onboarding experience to bring more new players to the franchise. It certainly made me more interested in the characters and giving the main games a chance than my memories of playing the first game with friends. But I’ll leave it at that.
Well, if they want to take risks in regards to studio location… go the full hog and acquire GSC Game Worlds.
at least one person sounds very happy to leave playstation behind
Xbox becoming the only global console maker.
I’d actually be down for a Gears game done in the Telltale Style. Lots of story based stuff, with little bits of action.
As I mentioned earlier, this quote from Phil is probably the most exciting.
Any acquisitions that go though this year, that won’t be the extent of it. MS are definitively looking for studios in locations outside their usual footprint.
Before long Xbox will become the new normal and people will ask why Sony keeps exclusives only on PlayStation if Xbox is everywhere.
The Guardian: Is there still room for traditional forms of narrative games on the Xbox Series X(Series S, PC and Game Pass)?
Phil Spencer: “I think we’re probably building more of those now than we’ve been in the history of Xbox,” says Phil Spencer. “Platform holders, whether that platform is subscription or a hardware device or a store, are actively investing in new and probably more risky things, because, if it works, we get value out of bringing players into the ecosystem.”
many single player games in development at Xbox Studios.

The whole purpose of Game Pass was to allow them to take more risks, you don’t need to sell people on your game now they can just download it and see for themselves, if they don’t like it they would just delete it and that’s that. It’s a sunk cost that will always be factored into Game Pass budgeting, it only takes 1 or 2 Fortnite / Rocket League to make so much money in the service that it could probably cover half of the costs or even all.
There are single games that can pull it over a billion dollars a year with MTX, it would take 2.5 massive games like that to cover all 23 studios to make 1, 100 million dollar game each. I know it would be extremely hard to get a game as big as Fortnite, it wouldn’t be easy but if they managed it they would be in a great spot.
This is why Game Pass could probably be the most profitable service anywhere I mean like even Netflix and Spotify, just look at the mobile games racking in billions every year. Not only could MS capture that market of a billion dollar a year market they also have a subscription service on top of that.
I deem this Xbox news day… acceptable.
It’s going to mean less work for them, which is never a bad thing. I can definitely understand this man’s reaction. I don’t dare check the comments section though;)
I’m ashamed that so many in the media act like this is a surprise… especially given the myriad of examples of XGS/Game Pass titles that are not “live service” titles, a majority of them aren’t in fact.
It’s because Project Dragon and Contraband have a multiplayer focus.
2 “second party” games that xbox is funding while they ignore Perfect Dark, Fable, Hellblade, Redfall, Starfield, Outer Worlds 2 and the list goes on.
Well let’s see…
Fable.
Perfect Dark.
Starfield.
Hellblade 2.
Avowed.
Halo Infinite campaign.
Indy.
The outer worlds 2.
State of Decay 3
We have more single player games announced than Sony.
Christ… those people in the comment section.
I can guarantee… GUARANTEE… that the people downplaying/disregarding gamepass WILL BE ON THERE sooner or later. Once those bangers start dropping back to back to back all those gamepass haters will be on the service. Bet on that.
