Xbox Game Studios |OT5| DOOM posting not allowed. Except for posting about DOOM

I’ve never seen Jeff Grubb and Jason Momoa in the same place. Nor have I ever seen Phil Spencer and Jason Momoa in the same place.

I have never seen Phil Spencer or Jeff Grubb.

So therefore, Jeff Grubb is Phil Spencer, but Jeff Grubb also uses the alias of Jason Momoa to make sure people don’t find out he’s Phil.

This explains how close Microsoft is to Warner Brothers, because WB knows that Jason Momoa star of the $1 Billion Dollar Box Office megahit Aquaman is Jeff Grubb mild mannered game reporter whose actually Phil Spencer.

Many subtitle layers to this.

It only works if you are connected online and uses the (elastic) computing ressources of a data center.

that makes no sense. if you are having cpu bottlenecks you are not 100% on all cpu cores.

thats not a bottleneck but almost perfect cpu utilisation

No… stop that. No one should speak of those dark times :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I always laugh when I remember it and now everything seems so far away… To me Xbox already won this gen.

It was bug or the inefficiencies that were “over-utilising” those CPUs and GPU was being under-utilised and not reaching full potential as it was waiting for CPU to finish.

if code is in a wait state it doesn’t produce a graph as above.

I expect a soild showcase. Maybe some surprises too. Then MS will drop some bomb akin Bethesda purchase - and the full year will be on fire. We still have Bethesda’s aftershocks after all.

I don’t think he is saying the CPU is in a wait state. He is saying the GPU is in a wait state. They could have buggy code that is burning cpu cycles but doing not much.

I guess cloud here could have some leverage in technology. Kojima would develop some solutions that could be out of reach of local hardware only. Like Microsoft Flight Simulator. It’s completely impossible to fly around the whole world locally. It contains 2 petabytes of data and these are just data.

So, I think that could be that cloud-native game. It would use something technologically advanced and that’s it. That would quite interesting to see. But if it would be that episodic smaller game (still counting for some AAA game from Kojima for XGS) I don’t know what it could use from cloud that local hardware couldn’t fully achieve.

Guerrilla is working on some multiplayer project since ~2018 and maybe they would be ready to announce that this year.

It could be something multiplayer-only, it could co-op, it could whatever. Game director of that project worked previously on Rainbow Six Siege.

The GPU cycles were getting wasted due to CPU taking too long which was at 100%. This was the reason behind low framerates.
