An Xcloud made games takes advantage of the servers and azure in a way Im sure a Series X console made isnt going to do.
Yes, since it shares the same hardware. It is not the same as with Google or Luna.
From the Warren article
Fundamentally, the games you can play on cloud services like Google Stadia, Amazon Luna, and Microsoft xCloud are not â cloud-native.â They were designed to run on existing consoles and PCs, so the only benefits you generally get from the cloud are faster load times, no need to install or patch games, and above-average graphics. Every game you play on Microsoftâs xCloud runs on a single Xbox board in a server rack, so itâs not all that different from the experience of playing on an Xbox at home.
Realistically there is little difference in how the games currently run between Stadia, Luna and Xcloud and Having tried at least 2 of these the only real difference is that the Stadia quality is way better.
I read it but it is not the same situation. Xcloud native games can also means games using extensively Cloud technology from the get go. Like IA powered by Cloud, or physics, or whatever else. MS made it so that developing for the Cloud means developing for consoles. It is an extension of the consoles.
We are confusing two things.
- A xCloud port of a game that can be easily created from the console version and optimised for touchscreen.
- A game like MFS which leverages Azure cloud game stack for AI/physics/asset streaming. Remember these do not run on xCloud server blades but on normal VMs.
Im pretty sure an Xcloud game can be played via the xbox but I dont know if it will be a native app.
Im sure the third option is
- A Game made specifically for Cloud Options and only played on xbox via streaming.
Apart from Stalker which was 3 months. What other timed exclusives have MS done and when they do its 3 months or so(in recent times not 6 years ago). 3 Months is actually a fair deal.
1 year is absolute horseshit. Games like FF16 Deathloop/Ghostwire should never be 1 year. But thats Sony for you. Jim Ryan can go fuck himself.
I seriously doubt MS would every do 1 year timed deals. Theyre probably more interested in Gamepass deals at this point. Couldnât care less if it comes to PS5 unless its their own studios.
This to me reads like more Flight Sim type games. (playable offline, but needs cloud streaming for best experience)
On another note, anyone up to guess when trailers will release? I have a few guesses.
Redfall (Apparently summer 2022 - latest Aug): Gameplay/release date traler end of this year, launch trailer at E3 22
Avowed (Insiders suggest early 23, sice starfield takes late 22 spot): Vertical slice later this year, Story trailer at E3 22, Deeper dive trailer end of 22
Hellblade 2(starting vertical slice): Vertical slice at E3 22 (as i dont know if it will be complete this year), release date late 23
Anyone else got any gueses?
Now this cloud-native game is sounding really good. A game built ground up for running on the cloud. Since itâs not bounded by the hardware limitations of the existing console server blades, the possibilities are endless. The cloud hardware specifications can be limitless and infinitely scalable. But everything will depend on the end user experience and their adoption/retention.
Now where have I heard this before?
I get what you mean. But Iâm not the one selling this idea.
Hey, you will do no such thing. I do not deserve such a fate⌠or buy me a drink first.
If Kojima is building a cloud based gam e wouldnât it be able to work offline since all of Xcloud is going to be series X blades soon?
THIS.
I honestly cannot see that happening at all, especially if one of the first games is a Kojima title. Internet for still many people isnât ideal and fast enough for streaming. I prefer a stable game, looking and performing the best it can be. Streaming isnât there yet .
Kojima=Crackdown 4 confirmed.
I would be happy to see what someone like Kojima could come up with that is only possible running on the cloud. We arenât game designers, so lets see what a creative can do.
Didnât the multiplayer integration in Death Stranding use the cloud? I remember Kojima talking about that being a unique feature about the game
