Going back to Avowed for a bitâŚ
(and it can be posted here since itâs not E3 related)
Letâs for now assume itâs true that Avowed is on schedule, Obsidian is on top of their game. All around great news. What could this potentially mean for a release date, I wonder? Last year after E3 Sponger posted all kinds of details about Avowed, about how long it had been in development and what their target was. So anyone remember what year the target was again?
Itâs hard to tell, but it almost sounds like 2023 sounds too far away for how far along this game seems to be. But if it isnât 2022, I donât think Q1 2023 is too crazy a thought. Right?
@Staffy Q2 2022 being a totally unrealistic but optimistic take.

I get everyoneâs take here but it canât be ignored that atleast all of these games that got pushed back has atleast shown some gameplay. Again I fully understand how the pandemic has effected this, Iâm not overly concerned but it canât be ignored that most of the studios canât even show anything yet because they are so early in production.
We know how these âdemosâ are made. Itâs not possible for the game to be final at this point in time, so they obviously took some ressources, cut some parts of the map and create this âcontent completeâ cut of the game to show the world. Look back at the video, the camera is really tightly focused on the action and they must have repeat that sequence maybe hundred of times to be perfectly synchronized with what happen on screen. You donât even see the pieces of woods and rocks disappear in front of you at the end of the video, but they disappear in seconds as itâs all pre-calculated animations. So this section of the game is like over polished. I just hope the rest of the game is like that. And Iâm kind of fearful for my old PS4âŚ

Imagine them announcing that at E3, XO or TGA though. Being able to play this game before Starfield dropsâŚman letâs get it! Sounds like a pipe dream right now yeah.

I think he said the target was late 2022.

Hmmm, but that was before Bethesda acquisition news came or after? Not that it should matter with Game Pass being so important for Xbox nowadays.

He posted this last week after saying itâs in good shape and thought it would be at E3.
âThatâs in line with late 2022/early 2023 target.â
That's in line with late 2022/early 2023 target.
He was the only director since beginning - now is co-directing, as team is now structured in same manner as TOW2 team. It's not like there was any major roadblocks with him, it's only to ensure...

Honestly thereâs no reason to be despondent. No Sony fanboy can call it a shitty E3 when Xbox is actually showing up and Sony isnât.
*Wolfenstein 3

*Forza Horizon 5

*Compulsions Game
Plus a Starfield Deep dive and HaloâŚfinal release dates for Psychonauts 2 and Flight SIM.
5 new AAA games. 3 new IPâŚand still silence from half a dozen other studios they own.

Lol
The show will be totally fine, but theyâll find a way to nitpick something.
You guys better be prepared for it.
ProgStopper:
I honestly see it as âMicrosoft takes the slings and arrows for Sonyâ AGAIN.
Microsoft says that there will be cross-gen titles and they get crucified.
Sony announced Sack-Boy, Miles Morales, and Horizon as Cross-Gen, and nobody cares because they were already tired about Microsoft.
Microsoft says âHey COVID, hit us really hard so things are going to take a little longerâ and Microsoft gets pelted with stones for having âno gamesâ.
Sony gives vague dates that all the titles miss⌠âHey, times are hard right now, things are worth waiting forâ
damn prog spitting bars since he came back, did your account get hacked or something?

Yep. In b4 âit was just a title cardâ, âThey didnât show gameplayââŚ

Iâm full on expecting it. On the other hand Iâll take CGI trailers for brand. new. games. over 14 minutes of gameplay for one weâve known about for a year.

Because its Bethesdaâs IP and they are the custodians of Fallout? Also they have said numerous times that they dont see the need to do 3rd party development for their stuff like Fallout.
Im sure the next Fallout post 76 wants to be made by them and tbh Id rather xbox avoid start an internal âwarâ over who does better use of X or Y IP with Obsidian. Also Some people like me prefer Fallout 3 to New Vegas.
I mean itâs really microsofts IP now. Bethesda doesnât own any IP anymore.

With their hands off approach theyâll only hand fallout to another studio if Bethesda wishes it.

Depends on Starfield tbh. If Starfield is occupying Holiday, neither Bethesda nor Obsidian wanna dig up the old rivalry again.
My thought process is about 6 months between them.

If Microsoft solely valued the IP over the devs wishes and approval, weâd be on Banjo Nine-iee right now. Just saying.
Whoever takes over needs to be a good fit for the IP and meet at a minimum Bethesdaâs approval and tbh, probably Fargo and the FO creators too (Cain, Boyarsky, Anderson)
